Position
The Automations Specialist will be part of a new remote Customer Experience (CX) Team, delivering excellence through a collective model. This team will comprise of a CX Manager, CX Adviser, an Operations specialist, a Dashboarding specialist and the Automations specialist. The Automation specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scripts and automation solutions using primarily PowerShell to streamline and automate various IT tasks for Riverbed engagements. The CX Manager will ensure alignment with both the DPC delivery methodology and Riverbed solution best-practice. Candidates must therefore have a strong IT background in script development and of working within a professional services organization. Ideally this experience will have been gained in Managed Services type scenarios or similar.
What You Will Do
- Writing and maintaining complex PowerShell scripts and modules to automate repetitive administrative tasks (user provisioning, patching, backups)
- Creating and optimizing scripts for configuration management, deployment pipelines (CI/CD), and system monitoring
- Developing custom cmdlets and functions to extend PowerShell functionality for specific organizational needs
- Developing Liquid templates to meet customer requirements in Runbooks
- Integrating PowerShell scripts with Microsoft Azure (Azure PowerShell), Office 365, SharePoint, Active Directory, and other Microsoft services
- Debugging and troubleshooting scripts, analysing errors, and ensuring idempotency and error handling
- Documenting scripts, modules, and automation workflows for future maintenance and knowledge sharing
- Monitoring and optimizing script performance, minimizing execution time, and reducing resource consumption
- Staying current with PowerShell versions, new cmdlets, Desired State Configuration (DSC), and emerging automation tools (Azure Automation, Desired State Configuration)
- Analyse and understand customer's IT organization, requirements and processes, and use this knowledge to assist in achieving full adoption and utilization of Riverbed's solutions to maximize ROI and business value
- Work directly with customers, colleagues and other stakeholders to achieve project goals remotely
- Manage communications of a technical nature to all stakeholders (customers, partners, approved subcontractors and account managers)
What Makes You An Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience
- Proficiency in PowerShell (desired PowerShell 5.1 or PowerShell 7+) and LiquidJS , including scripting, module creation, and Desired State Configuration (DSC)
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience automating Windows environments using PowerShell scripts
- Strong understanding of Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, and IIS
- Familiarity with Azure services and Azure PowerShell cmdlets for cloud automation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex scripts in production environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Technical problem-solving & troubleshooting skills with demonstrated ability to learn quickly, with e xcellent speaking, business writing and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate & present effectively at all levels up to senior management & C-Suite, with technical and non-technical audiences
