Overview
Based in Bangalore, the Payroll Officer will be responsible for the effective management of all monthly payroll processes and payroll and some HR reporting across our offices in Australia and New Zealand and the HR Shared Services team.
This role is largely autonomous with associated decision-making requirements and will have routine engagement with employees and managers as well as our Outsourced Payroll Provider. The role will ensure that the monthly and ad-hoc payroll responsibilities are managed in a timely, accurate, compliant and effective manner.
This role will include responsibility for creating and distributing HR and payroll reports to both the Australian, New Zealand and Global business and provide insights and analysis into trends within the data.
Your role
- Manage and administer the payroll system for Australia and New Zealand.
- Be the key liaison between the Payroll Provider (TMF), the Australian HR team and the Shared Services team.
- Prepare the monthly payroll inputs for permanent and casual employees.
- Calculate and process manual payroll (for project personnel and casual employees) based on approved timesheet data (from finance and/or the project) to include additional hours, premiums / loadings etc.
- Review and approval of the (out-sourced) payroll processing to ensure a high level of accuracy.
- Maintain compliant payroll records.
- Resolve all absence and payroll related enquiries.
- Work with and provide relevant payroll information to the Global tax team on expat and rotator employee (FIFO) tax reporting requirements.
- Work with the Finance team and the Australian Tax Office (ATO) to resolve SGC / superannuation matters for underpayments.
- Conduct / participate Payroll audits (external or internal) including, but not limited to leave accruals.
About you
- Appropriate knowledge, skills and experience in Payroll processing and management experience.
- Relevant tertiary qualification.
- Experience with generating and interpreting HR & Payroll reports.
- Knowledge of Industrial instruments as they apply to payroll.
- Experience with Workday HRIS is an advantage.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- A commitment to customer service.
- Strong skills in MS office.
