About this Role:
The Payroll Manager plays a critical role in ensuring employees of Insight Global in India are paid accurately and on time. This includes a range of responsibilities from the coordination of processes cross-departmentally to processing payrolls to ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
What You'll Do:
• Lead, develop, and manage the India payroll team
• Set team goals, monitor performance, and provide coaching and development opportunities
• Drive hiring strategy, workforce planning, and onboarding for India payroll roles
• Foster a high-performance, customer-focused team culture
• Oversee the accurate and timely processing of India payrolls, including salaries, variable pay, and statutory
deductions
• Review and approve payrolls, ensuring proper controls, validations, and reconciliations are in place
• Ensure accuracy of final outputs such as payslips, bank files, and statutory filings
• Serve as the subject matter expert on India payroll regulations including income tax, PF, ESI, PT, and other
statutory requirements
• Partner with Legal and external advisors to assess regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance
• Oversee preparation, review, and submission of all payroll tax filings, year-end reporting (e.g., Form 16), and
audit requirements
• Identify and mitigate payroll risks by establishing strong internal controls and audit practices
• Build, enhance, and standardize scalable payroll processes across India operations
• Lead process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, automation, and accuracy
• Establish and maintain detailed process documentation, SOPs, and payroll workflows
• Evaluate and implement system enhancements in partnership with HRIS/payroll vendors
• Act as the primary India payroll partner to Global Payroll, Accounting, HR, and Finance teams
• Coordinate payroll-related activities such as funding, bank file approvals, and reconciliations with
Accounting
• Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate processing of employee lifecycle changes (hires, exits,
compensation changes)
• Support expansion efforts, including new entities, locations, or policy changes
• Develop and deliver payroll metrics, KPIs, and insights to leadership
• Analyze payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
• Support internal and external audits with accurate reporting and documentation
• Own relationships with payroll vendors and system providers, managing escalations and performance
• Ensure payroll systems are optimized, compliant, and aligned with business needs

Relevant Experience:
• 8+ years of payroll experience, with deep expertise in India payroll
• 3+ years of people management experience
• Strong knowledge of India payroll compliance and statutory requirements
• Experience managing audits, year-end processes, and regulatory reporting
• Proven ability to improve processes and implement scalable solutions
• Experience working cross-functionally with Accounting, HR, and Legal
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
• Experience with payroll platforms (e.g., Keka) and advanced Excel/Microsoft tools
