Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Payroll Lead role based in Pune City. The Payroll Lead will manage end-to-end payroll operations, including data collection, validation, processing, and disbursement for assigned employee groups while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with statutory requirements. Responsibilities include coordinating with HR, finance, and business teams to handle salary changes, variable pay, benefits, and employee queries, as well as resolving discrepancies and maintaining secure, organized payroll records. The Payroll Lead will monitor adherence to labor laws and tax regulations, support audits, and prepare regular reports and dashboards for management review. The role also involves driving process improvements, implementing best practices, supporting payroll system enhancements, and mentoring junior payroll team members.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in end-to-end payroll management, including salary processing, statutory compliance (PF, ESIC, professional tax, income tax), and final settlements.
- Proficiency with payroll and HRIS/ERP systems, advanced MS Excel skills, and comfort working with large data sets and reconciliations.
- Sound knowledge of Indian labor laws, tax regulations, and payroll-related statutory filings, with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory changes.
- Proven ability to handle employee payroll queries with professionalism, maintain confidentiality, and provide clear, timely communication.
- Experience leading or supervising payroll operations, prioritizing workloads, and driving process improvements in a dynamic environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field; relevant certifications in payroll or compensation will be an advantage.
- Experience in a mid-to-large, technology or multinational organization is preferred, especially in fast-paced or growth environments.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a continuous-improvement mindset, with the ability to work on-site full time in Pune City.
