ROLE:
The incumbent will lead end-to-end payroll operations for a large workforce of 10,000+ employees, including Fixed Term Employees. This role demands deep expertise in payroll processing, taxation, SAP S/4HANA payroll, payroll accounting, financial controls, reconciliations, audit governance, and budgeting. Experience in Workline would be an added advantage.
The incumbent will act as the Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong governance, while working closely with Finance, HR, Compliance, Audit, Corporate Taxation, and HR Technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end payroll processing for 10,000+ employees across multiple locations ensuring timely and accurate execution ensuring payroll master data integrity.
- Ensuring accurate employee deductions that includes Perquisites, Income Tax and Statutory contributions required for monthly compliances. Managing Employee Benefits (Gratuity, Leave, NPS etc.), Actuarial Valuation
- Validate payroll outputs and reconciliation reports before release. Establish and maintain robust payroll controls and validation checks. Ensure payroll delivery within defined timelines and SLAs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure compliance and data accuracy.
- Manage Salary / Payroll-to-GL reconciliations, Bank reconciliations (salary disbursements), JV Posting, Monthly Payroll provisions and accruals reporting
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closures.
- Support budgeting, manpower cost planning, payroll forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Strengthen internal controls and risk mitigation frameworks.
- Manage and drive SAP S/4HANA Payroll and Workline HRIS along with enhancements and automation initiatives as a functional SME including UAT and monitoring production movement. Collaborate with HR Tech and IT for transformation projects.
- Lead payroll-related audits that include Internal, Statutory, IFC or any other External Audits followed by driving timely closure of audit findings. Ensure comprehensive documentation, approvals, and audit trails and support RCSA / governance frameworks.
- Develop / Maintain payroll MIS, dashboards, and reports. Analyze payroll trends, variances, and anomalies. Prepare and Publish workforce cost analytics and insights.
- Support leadership with data-driven decision-making reports.
- Partner effectively with Finance, HR Business Teams, HR Technology any other Internal Stake holders / External Stakeholders
- Manage escalations and act as the primary point of contact for payroll.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll team by driving a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure high service standards and operational excellence.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education
- Graduate in any discipline (MBA/PGDM, M-Phil, M. Com - preferred with HR experience)
- Certifications in Payroll, Taxation, Labour Laws, SAP HCM / Workline – Preferred
Experience
- 5-10 years in Payroll Operations within house Payroll processing experience of min. 5000+ employees
- Should have managed Fixed Term Employees
- Worked Minimum 5 years in SAP S/4HANA Payroll
- Experience in Workline HRIS will be an added advantage
