Seasonal Parks Labourer I positions to support the maintenance and care of our parks, open spaces, and community amenities throughout the busy spring and summer season. This is a great opportunity to gain municipal experience, build practical skills, and be part of a supportive team that takes pride in keeping Leduc green, safe, and welcoming.
What is the Opportunity
Reporting to the Lead, Parks and Open Spaces, the Parks Labourer I is an entry-level, seasonal role responsible for performing a variety of labour-related tasks to support the maintenance of City parks and open spaces. Working alongside full-time and seasonal Parks staff, you will assist with daily operations using hand tools and small equipment while learning safe work practices and operational standards.
What will you do
As a Seasonal Parks Labourer I, Your Work Will Directly Support The Maintenance, Safety, And Appearance Of The City Of Leduc's Parks And Open Spaces While Contributing To a Positive Experience For Residents And Visitors. Additionally, You Will
- Complete labour-related tasks as assigned by the Lead, Parks and Open Spaces, or other full-time Parks staff to support daily operations.
- Operate hand tools and small equipment across various park areas, including turf, playgrounds, cemeteries, multi-ways, sports fields and horticultural areas. Assist with the safe operation of Parks-related equipment such as push mowers, ride-on mowers, side-by-sides, and City trucks, following established procedures and training.
- Participate in hands-on training and apply Occupational Health & Safety practices to ensure safe work environments for yourself and others.
- Recognize, report, and respond to potential hazards or maintenance issues in the field, escalating concerns to supervisors as required.
- Provide front-line responses to customer requests while working in the field and relay information to the appropriate supervisor to support timely service delivery.
- Work collaboratively with full-time and seasonal Parks staff to complete assigned tasks and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Who you are

- A High School Diploma
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
- The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, and using hand tools
- A willingness to learn safe equipment operation and City policies and procedures
- Strong teamwork and basic customer service skills
Experience operating small equipment (e.g., push mowers, weed whips) and First Aid certification are considered assets, but no prior experience is required.
