Overview

Waters is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to support the efficient delivery of legal services across the legal department, the company, and external partners. Reporting to the Specialist, Docketing, Discovery & Operations, this role requires a proactive individual with strong communication skills, a solid understanding of legal processes, and a continuous improvement mindset. This position is based in Bangalore at our Global Capability Center.

Responsibilities

General Accountabilities

  • Provide paralegal support to the legal department with a primary focus on intellectual property matters, including patent and trademark docketing, prosecution support, and portfolio management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date IP docketing systems, ensuring all deadlines, filings, and related activities are tracked and executed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys, internal stakeholders, and outside counsel to support global IP prosecution and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with the preparation, execution, and management of routine legal documents.
  • Support litigation activities, including document collection, organization, and coordination with internal teams and external counsel.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of legal support with business needs.
  • Support the legal department's objectives through timely execution of assigned tasks and reporting.

Intellectual Property Docketing & Portfolio Support

  • Manage and update IP docketing systems to track deadlines for patents, trademarks, and other IP matters.
  • Coordinate filings, responses, and communications with outside counsel and foreign associates.
  • Ensure compliance with jurisdictional requirements and internal procedures related to IP filings and maintenance.
  • Maintain organized records of IP assets, correspondence, and documentation.

Agreements & Litigation Support

  • Prepare, review, and process routine agreements using standard templates and established guidelines.
  • Assist attorneys with contract tracking, execution, and recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate responses to subpoenas, legal holds, and information requests as needed.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with legal department colleagues to improve workflows and processes related to IP management, contracting, and paralegal support.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in legal support activities.
  • Contribute to process documentation and best practices within the legal team.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (paralegal certificate preferred law degree not required).
  • 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal, with a strong preference for intellectual property experience (patents and/or trademarks).
  • Hands-on experience with IP docketing systems and global IP portfolio management, including Anaqua.
  • Experience working with outside counsel and managing legal processes across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Familiarity with routine contract preparation and litigation support activities.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines , excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate within defined procedures.
  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and sound judgment in handling sensitive legal matters.
  • Takes ownership of responsibilities and contributes to the overall success of the legal department.
