Shift timings: 2 PM- 11PM IST

General Summary

We are looking for a skilled Palo Alto Firewall Administrator with 5–6 years of overall network/security experience to support firewall operations, policy governance, rulebase cleanup, and security audits. This role will focus heavily on reviewing, rationalizing, and cleaning up thousands of firewall rules, improving policy hygiene, and scripting/automating repetitive firewall administration tasks. The ideal candidate should be hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in large enterprise environments with strong compliance and operational discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day administration of Palo Alto firewalls and related security policies.
  • Perform firewall rulebase cleanup and optimization, including review, recertification, removal of obsolete/redundant rules, and consolidation of policies.
  • Conduct firewall audits to ensure compliance with security standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze and validate existing firewall rules, objects, NAT policies, and security zones.
  • Support cleanup of large-scale rule environments involving thousands of rules.
  • Create and maintain scripts to automate firewall administration, reporting, audit evidence collection, and cleanup activities.
  • Work with application, infrastructure, and security teams to validate rule requirements and reduce unnecessary access.
  • Prepare audit findings, remediation recommendations, and operational documentation.
  • Monitor firewall changes and ensure proper change management practices are followed.
  • Troubleshoot policy, connectivity, and rule-related issues in coordination with cross-functional teams.

Must Have

  • 5–6 years of overall experience in network security / firewall administration.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Strong experience in firewall rule review, cleanup, recertification, and audit support.
  • Experience handling large and complex firewall rulebases with thousands of rules.
  • Good understanding of firewall policies, NAT, security zones, objects, and access control principles.
  • Experience with policy analysis, compliance checks, and documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and stakeholder coordination skills.

Nice to Have

  • Cloud knowledge such as AWS, Azure, or GCP network security concepts.
  • Experience with Panorama or centralized firewall management tools.
  • Hands-on scripting experience using Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate operational tasks.
  • Exposure to security frameworks, audit standards, or regulatory environments.
  • Knowledge of firewall migration, rule optimization tools, or security policy governance processes.
  • Basic understanding of SIEM, vulnerability management, or broader network security operations.
  • Palo alto NGFW certification
