Role Description The Paintshop Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Kanchipuram. This role involves preparing plastic components for painting, operating and monitoring paintshop equipment, and ensuring correct mixing and application of paints and coatings according to specifications. The Paintshop Technician will perform routine checks on surface quality, color consistency, and finish, and will carry out basic maintenance and cleaning of paint booths, spray guns, and related machinery. Responsibilities also include following safety and environmental guidelines, maintaining production records, supporting quality audits, and collaborating with supervisors and team members to meet daily production targets.
Qualifications

  • Practical knowledge of paintshop operations, including surface preparation, masking, and spray painting for plastic components.
  • Ability to handle paints, thinners, and coatings safely, with an understanding of mixing ratios, curing times, and finish requirements.
  • Familiarity with operating and maintaining paint booths, ovens, conveyors, and basic paintshop tools and equipment.
  • Awareness of safety, health, and environmental practices, including use of personal protective equipment and adherence to workplace safety standards.
  • Attention to detail for visual inspection of parts, color matching, and defect identification, with a focus on consistent quality and minimal rework.
  • Basic record-keeping and communication skills to report issues, follow work instructions, and coordinate with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Prior experience in an automotive or plastics painting environment is preferred; vocational training or ITI certification in relevant trades (e.g., Painter, Plastic Processing, Production) is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in shifts, stand for extended periods, and perform manual handling tasks as required in a production paintshop.
