Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Painter role based at The Fern Hotels & Resorts in Jaisalmer. The Painter will be responsible for preparing surfaces, mixing and matching paints, and applying paint, varnish, and other finishes to interior and exterior walls, ceilings, doors, and furniture. Daily tasks include inspecting areas for repair, filling cracks and holes, sanding and priming surfaces, and ensuring clean, precise edges and uniform coverage. The role also involves maintaining painting tools and equipment, following safety and environmental guidelines, coordinating with the maintenance and housekeeping teams, and minimizing disruption to guests. The Painter will help uphold the property's aesthetic standards and support scheduled renovations, touch-ups, and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in surface preparation, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and priming various substrates (walls, ceilings, wood, metal).
  • Skilled in brush, roller, and spray painting techniques, with the ability to achieve smooth, even finishes and neat edges.
  • Experience selecting, mixing, and matching paints, stains, and finishes suited to different surfaces and environmental conditions.
  • Knowledge of basic repair work related to painting, such as filling cracks, repairing minor plaster and putty work, and sealing joints.
  • Understanding of workplace safety practices, including proper use of ladders and scaffolding, handling of paints and thinners, and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, basic drawings, and color schemes, and to estimate materials and time for assigned tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to maintain cleanliness and order in work areas, especially in guest-facing spaces.
  • Prior experience as a Painter in hospitality, facility maintenance, or construction is preferred; vocational training or certification in painting or a related trade is an advantage.
