Position Summary

As a Packaging Data & Engineering Change Engineer, you are primarily responsible for managing and administratively executing Engineering Change processes (ECN/ECR) for packaging. Additionally, you will independently manage the cross-product Product Number Application (PNA) process within SAP. Another key component of your role is providing operational and administrative support to the global R&D Packaging Development Workflow, taking ownership of processes and data maintenance. These R&D tasks are performed under the supervision of an experienced team member.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Change Management (ECN / ECR) & SAP Execution - Bundles & Boxed products
  • Technically process, review, and validate packaging-related Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) within the SAP workflow.
  • Create plant specific views in SAP.
  • Ensure completion of all technical change documentation, including design BOMs, technical drawings, and engineering approvals.
  • Build, modify, and maintain complex design and production Bills of Materials (BOM) specifically for packaging configurations (Boxed Products).
  • Coordinate the creation of packaging artwork and labeling with internal stakeholders
  • Maintain critical logistics and packaging master data in SAP during the ECN process, including units of measure, packaging weights, master carton dimensions, and pallet stack heights (for both in-house production and merchandise).
  • Partner with Purchasing during the change workflow to request, analyze, and track cost structures for new packaging components.
  • Coordinate with Technical Quality (TQ) to trigger and set up Q-info records in SAP for Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR), enabling initial sample orders.
  • Coordinate the creation and setup of production routings in SAP.
  • Together with a team member, coordinate packaging samples (requesting, checking, and validating physical samples) and align on 0-series (pilot) production runs with TQ.
  • Perform final data audits on completed ECNs regarding validity dates, BOM completeness, and final status release (Orderable).
  • Product Number Applications (PNA) – Cross-Product
  • Independently administer and advance the PNA process within the SAP workflow.
  • Allocate manufacturing plants, departmental responsibilities, and specific Lab / Office attributes in SAP MDG based on the global production strategy.
  • Execute logistical change notifications required for product relocations within the Lixil Group, as well as for insourcing and outsourcing projects.
  • Audit and gather data from ECN files and maintain alignment with project managers.
  • Maintain comprehensive tracking worklists to ensure full visibility and documentation of all PNA workflow statuses.
  • Operational & Administrative Support in the R&D Packaging Workflow
  • Independently execute administrative and data-driven tasks within the global R&D packaging workflow to ensure steady project progression.
  • Manage operational process steps for continuous packaging optimizations and lifecycle projects under the direct supervision of an experienced team member.
  • Collaborate closely with the core team, ensuring timely escalation of issues; technical support and resolution of complex engineering questions will be provided by the technical expert in the team.
  • Assist in the administrative and master-data tracking of various R&D packaging projects across their lifecycle (including innovation projects, such as the implementation of optimized insert concepts or transitioning to sustainable molded pulp solutions, as a sub-task).
  • Coordinate, compile, and maintain technical documentation, packaging specifications, and engineering data packages.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, or a comparable technical discipline.
  • Initial or proven professional experience in technical administration, master data management (MDG), or Engineering Change Management.
  • Basic to solid understanding of manufacturing processes, logistics chains, and industrial packaging requirements.

Technical & IT Skills
