About the Role:
Ambuja Neotia is seeking an experienced finance professional to join as Owner's Representative – Finance & Accounts for one of our Taj hotel properties.
In this unique role, you will be stationed at a Taj-managed property and act as the financial custodian and representative of the property owner (Ambuja Neotia). While the operations are managed by Taj Hotels (IHCL), the incumbent will independently monitor financial transactions, compliance, controls, reporting, and operator performance to safeguard the owner's interests and ensure transparency in financial operations.
This role is ideal for finance professionals with strong hospitality accounting, audit, compliance, and financial control experience who can work independently while coordinating with hotel management, corporate finance teams, and auditors.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily review of financial transactions, vendor invoices, and advance adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with purchase rate contracts and flag deviations.
- Perform surprise cash counts, petty cash verification, and stock audits (F&B, housekeeping, engineering).
- Review night audit reports and reconcile revenues across PMS, POS, and accounting systems.
- Verify payroll headcount against approved manning structures.
- Scrutinise credit notes, discounts, rebates, and complimentary approvals.
- Review the month-end and year-end closing entries, including provisions and accruals.
- Monitor expense trends and identify unusual movements or misclassifications.
- Ensure proper accounting treatment and period booking of all transactions.
- Review monthly bank reconciliations, inter-unit, and inter-company balances.
- Analyse the Trial Balance for discrepancies and misstatements.
- Ensure proper classification of expenses between GOP and below-GOP as per HOA guidelines.
- Verify operator fee calculations (base fee, incentive fee, marketing fund).
- Review GOP / EBITDA computations and FF&E reserve accounting.
- Monitor capex approvals, capitalisation, and asset register updates.
- Flag non-compliant charges and deviations from agreement terms.
- Ensure compliance with TDS, GST (including ITC reconciliation), PF, and ESI.
- Track statutory deadlines, ensure timely filings and coordinate with statutory and internal auditors.
- Prepare monthly Owner's Report covering financial performance and compliance status.
- Highlight exceptions, risks, control lapses and escalate critical issues and unusual transactions to Corporate Accounts.
- Maintain independent access to PMS, POS, and accounting system.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- CA Inter / CMA Inter / M.Com (CA/CMA preferred).
- 5–8 years of experience in Finance & Accounts.
- Mandatory experience in the hotel/hospitality industry.
- Strong understanding of hotel accounting, financial controls, audits, and compliance.
- Experience with PMS, POS, ERP, and hotel accounting systems.
- Knowledge of GST, TDS, statutory compliance, and financial reporting.
