Job Description

Role Overview

As an Out of Hours Consultant, you will act as the critical operational link between healthcare clients and agency workers outside standard business hours. You will ensure seamless shift coverage, manage last-minute requirements, and handle urgent escalations while maintaining high standards of compliance and service delivery.

This role is pivotal in maintaining client trust and ensuring uninterrupted healthcare staffing support.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Management Bookings

  • Manage and fulfil urgent and last-minute staffing requests from NHS trusts and private healthcare clients
  • Coordinate with available candidates to ensure full shift coverage
  • Allocate shifts via internal CRM systems (e.g. Eclipse, NHSP)

Candidate Coordination

  • Contact candidates for shift confirmations, availability, and replacements
  • Handle cancellations, no-shows, and rebooking in real-time
  • Maintain strong communication with agency workers to ensure reliability

Client Communication

  • Act as the first point of contact for clients during out-of-hours periods
  • Provide timely updates on bookings, escalations, and issues
  • Maintain professional and responsive communication at all times

Escalation Handling

  • Manage urgent issues such as shift failures, compliance concerns, and worker conduct
  • Escalate critical matters to senior management when required
  • Ensure all incidents are logged and followed up appropriately

Compliance System Management

  • Ensure all candidates booked are fully compliant and eligible to work
  • Update CRM systems with accurate booking and communication records
  • Follow internal SOPs and NHS/framework guidelines

Key Skills Experience

  • Experience in healthcare recruitment or staffing (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of NHS processes, bookings, and compliance (desirable)
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle high-volume calls
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational ability
  • Comfortable working night shifts and weekends
