About The Opportunity
A fast-paced healthcare provider in the surgical and perioperative care sector, delivering patient-centred services across multiple surgical specialties. The role supports accredited operating theatre workflows with a strong emphasis on sterile technique, patient safety, infection control and efficient case turnover.
Role & Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up operating theatre for scheduled and emergency procedures instruments, sterile trays, monitoring equipment and consumables to surgeon and anaesthesia specifications.
- Maintain sterile field and perform surgical scrub and instrument handling during procedures, anticipating surgeon needs and ensuring uninterrupted workflow.
- Operate and monitor sterilisation equipment (autoclaves) and follow CSSD protocols for decontamination, packaging and storage of instruments.
- Assist with patient transfer, positioning and application of surgical drapes while adhering to safety and pressure-area protection standards.
- Document theatre logs, instrument counts and procedure checklists; report equipment faults and participate in root-cause reviews for incidents.
- Follow infection control policies, perform routine theatre cleaning, restock supplies, and support turnaround activities to minimise case delays.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- Diploma or certificate in Operation Theatre Technology / Allied Health or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Hands-on experience in an operating theatre environment (minimum 1 year preferred) performing scrub and floor duties.
- Practical knowledge of sterilisation processes and CSSD workflows including autoclave operation.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong familiarity with surgical instrumentation and sterile handling procedures.
- Ability to follow clinical protocols, maintain accurate logs and work rotational shifts on-site.
Preferred
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience with laparoscopic/endoscopic instrument processing and MIS set handling.
- Prior exposure to quality systems or infection control committees (ISO/HACCP awareness).
