Job Title: Lead Oracle Hyperion Techno-Functional Consultant (FDMEE & BCS Forecasting)
Experience: 7 – 12 Years
Location: Remote / Hybrid (Occasional travel may be required)
Employment Type: Permanent / Full-Time
Reports To: Director of Finance Systems / Finance Lead
Position Summary
We are looking for a high-caliber
Lead Oracle Hyperion Techno-Functional Consultant to join our Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) team. This is a critical, strategic role that acts as the nexus between Finance and IT. You will be responsible for the stability, optimization, and evolution of our financial consolidation and forecasting ecosystem, specifically leveraging
FDMEE for data integration and
Hyperion BCS for forecasting.
The ideal candidate is not just a technical developer but a solution architect who understands the financial implications of data pipelines. You will be tasked with ensuring seamless data flow from SAP S/4HANA into Hyperion, resolving complex data-load failures, and architecting robust solutions for variance reporting (Forecast vs. Actuals) and Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) tracking. You will serve as the primary technical advisor to the Finance Lead, translating high-level business requirements into scalable, sustainable technical configurations.
Key Responsibilities
- Techno-Functional Leadership & System Architecture
- Data Pipeline Ownership: Assume end-to-end accountability for the data integration lifecycle from SAP ECC/S4HANA to the Hyperion BCS environment using FDMEE. This includes designing data load rules, mapping strategies, and integration workflows.
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Lead the diagnosis and resolution of complex data pipeline failures. Proactively identify bottlenecks in data loads, such as extraction errors, mapping logic failures, or stuck integration scripts, and implement permanent corrective measures. You will analyze ODI/FDMEE logs to pinpoint root causes and assess the downstream financial impact (e.g., balance sheet distortions).
- FDMEE Configuration & Customization: Manage and enhance FDMEE components including locations, import formats, data load rules, and multi-period mappings. Architect and script custom data transformation logic using Jython and VBScript to handle complex financial calculations during the ETL process.
- BCS Model Governance: Design, configure, and maintain robust BCS Forecast models. This involves managing multidimensional structures, updating consolidation logic, defining status management workflows, and ensuring the model architecture supports both rolling forecasts and the annual budgeting cycle.
- Financial Reporting & Analytical Solutioning
- Variance Reporting (Forecast vs. Actuals): Engineer detailed monthly and quarterly reports that illustrate Forecast vs. Actuals variance. You will break down variances by cost center, profit center, and general ledger account, providing actionable insights for the Finance leadership team.
- CAPEX Lifecycle Management: Lead the development of custom reports focused on Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) dimensions. You will track budget vs. actual spend, analyze commitments, and generate project-wise depreciation forecasts to support strategic investment decisions.
- Ad-hoc Query & Data Validation: Write and optimize complex SQL and MAXL queries directly against the Essbase/Hyperion back-end. This will be used for deep-dive data integrity checks, custom dashboard feeds, and extracting data that falls outside standard report formats.
- Strategic Business Collaboration & Governance
- Finance Partnership: Act as the primary technical counterpart to the Finance Lead. You will attend business meetings to gather report specifications, clarify KPI definitions, and demonstrate the capabilities of the Hyperion suite to address evolving business needs.
- Requirements Translation: Convert intricate financial logic—such as allocation rules, currency translations, and CAPEX capitalization thresholds—into Functional Design Documents (FDDs) and precise technical configurations.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure all system configurations and reporting outputs adhere to strict financial controls, audit trail requirements, and end-user security protocols. Maintain comprehensive documentation for all technical processes and data mappings.
Required Skills & Qualifications (Must-Have)- Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience working with the Oracle EPM/Hyperion suite, with a significant focus on integration and forecasting.
- FDMEE/Data Management Mastery:
- Expert-level knowledge of FDMEE including file-based loads, database connections, and ERP adapters.
- Proven experience integrating with SAP (specifically reading text files, leveraging SAP GL extractors, and configuring connections).
- Deep understanding of FDMEE data load rules, custom scripts, and event-driven batch processing.
- BCS & Forecasting Expertise:
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining BCS Forecast models.
- Deep understanding of BCS table structures, consolidation logic, status management, and financial schedule processes.
- Technical Scripting:
- Proficiency in SQL/MAXL scripting for data extraction, validation, and backend querying.
- Experience with Jython or VBScript for FDMEE data transformations.
- Financial Acumen:
- Strong background in Financial Reporting, specifically building Forecast vs. Actuals reports.
- Experience managing CAPEX dimensions (Asset Class, Cost Center, Internal Orders, Projects) and tracking budget vs. actuals.
- Communication:
- Exceptional spoken and written English skills.
- Ability to articulate technical root-cause analysis to non-technical Finance Directors and business stakeholders.
Preferred Skills (Good To Have)
- SAP FI/CO Knowledge: Familiarity with SAP back-end tables (e.g., BSEG, COEP) and an understanding of the SAP month-end close process.
- EPM Automations: Experience using EPM Automate or Groovy scripting to automate administrative tasks and improve process efficiency.
- Broader EPM Portfolio: Exposure to Hyperion Planning or PBCS, specifically understanding ASO/BSO cube structures and Calculation Manager business rules.
- Data Integration Tools: Experience with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is a significant plus.
Why Join Us
- High-Impact Role: Directly influence financial reporting accuracy and strategic decision-making for the organization.
