Job Description:

  • Job Description Senior/Lead Cloud Database Administrator (Azure & SQL Server)
  • Own endtoend administration of MS SQL Server (20002022) across Azure and hybrid estates, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.
  • Plan and execute database migrations from onpremises to Azure (VMs, Azure SQL, Managed Instance), including validation and rollback strategies.
  • Implement and manage HA/DR solutions: Always On, clustering, mirroring, replication, and log shipping; design and test DR drills and georeplication.
  • Drive backup/restore strategy using enterprise tools (e.g., Veritas, Networker, Rubrik, TINA) and enforce RPO/RTO objectives.
  • Perform performance tuning & query optimization (indexing, statistics, blocking/deadlocks analysis), plus capacity planning and space management.
  • Administer Azure features (automatic tuning, monitoring, alerts) and maintain security baselines (Azure AD auth, auditing, threat detection, data masking).
  • Support AWS workloads (EC2 provisioning, RDS monitoring with CloudWatch) and coordinate crosscloud operations; exposure to GCP is a plus.
  • Establish and maintain database security (roles, privileges), apply Windows & SQL security patches, and remediate vulnerabilities in line with policy.
  • Automate routine operations with scripting; monitor health using Nagios, Tivoli, SolarWinds, SCOM, and ITSM processes for incidents/changes.
  • Collaborate with App/SRE teams on design & architecture, reviews, release management (QA/UAT/Prod), and production issue resolution within SLAs.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation (runbooks, standards, SOPs), and mentor junior DBAs; contribute to process improvements and automation.
