Key Responsibilities

Performance Tuning Specifics Mandatory Skills

Lead end to end database performance tuning for Oracle on AWS RDS

Analyze AWR ADDM ASH Stats pack reports to identify performance bottlenecks

Perform SQL tuning using execution plan analysis SQL profiles and indexing strategies

Optimize wait events related to CPU IO memory and locking contention

Tune Oracle parameters PGA SGA optimizer settings within RDS constraints

Work with development teams to refactor inefficient SQL and PLSQL code

Perform capacity planning and workload forecasting based on performance trends

Optimize storage and IO performance RDS storage types IOPS tuning

Lead performance testing for releases migrations and major changes

Troubleshooting Incident Management Specifics

Act as the primary escalation point for complex Oracle production issues

Diagnose and resolve database outages slowness and replication issues

Troubleshoot blocking sessions deadlocks latchmutex contention and enqueue waits

Analyze logs trace files and diagnostic dumps in RDS environments

Handle corruption scenarios recovery issues and restore validations

Coordinate with AWS Support and Oracle Support for critical incidents

Lead root cause analysis RCA and produce detailed postmortem reports

Implement preventive measures and automation to reduce repeat incidents

Core Responsibilities

Architect operate and govern Oracle databases on AWS RDS

Define HADR strategies Multi AZ backups cross region recovery

Lead patching upgrades and database lifecycle management

Drive database security compliance and audit readiness

Provide DB related technical leadership

Support cloud migrations and modernization initiatives

Required Qualifications

10 years of Oracle DBA experience including lead or senior roles

Proven hands on experience with Oracle on AWS RDS

Expert level Oracle performance tuning and troubleshooting skills

Strong knowledge of AWS RDS internals and limitations

Advanced SQL PLSQL and shell scripting skills

Linux Unix system administration experience

Preferred Qualifications Optional Skills

Experience with largescale high throughput OLTP systems

Experience with AWS DMS and Oracle Data Pump

Familiarity with IaC tools Terraform CloudFormation

Experience in regulated or 24x7 production environments

Oracle OCP certifications
