Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with 46 years of experience to manage, monitor, and optimize Oracle database systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database availability, reliability, performance, and security across various environments including development, testing, and production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle databases (12c/19c and above) in multi-environment setups.
  • Perform database backup and recovery operations using RMAN, and manage disaster recovery setups using Oracle Data Guard.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and apply tuning techniques to optimize query and overall database performance.
  • Implement and maintain database security, access controls, and encryption as per best practices.
  • Manage database schema objects (tables, indexes, views, procedures), users, roles, and storage.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to architecture, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with development and application teams to support PL/SQL development and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Automate routine database maintenance tasks using shell scripts and SQL scripts.
  • Apply patches and perform version upgrades in accordance with change management policies.
  • Monitor and maintain database health using tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or third-party monitoring solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 45 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA in production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle architecture, database internals, and SQL tuning.
  • Proficiency in PL/SQL, SQL, and scripting (Shell or Python preferred).
  • Experience with Oracle backup & recovery (RMAN) and Data Guard.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or similar tools for monitoring and management.
  • Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting for automation.
  • Understanding of database security and compliance practices.

Preferred Skills (Good to Have):

  • Exposure to Oracle RAC and high availability configurations.
  • Experience with Oracle on Cloud platforms (OCI, AWS RDS, or Azure).
  • Knowledge of automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Python scripting.
  • Oracle certifications such as OCA/OCP.
