Role Overview

The Oracle DBA will design, operate and safeguard the production databases that underpin Arval's business applications. You will guarantee data availability, integrity and security, provide secondline support to development teams, and continuously improve database processes through automation and optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer Oracle, MySQL and databases in a productiongrade environment.
  • Ensure data availability, quality and security; define and enforce access permissions.
  • Design, test and maintain backup & recovery procedures (RMAN, logical backups) in line with businessline SLAs.
  • Apply security patches and version upgrades according to BNP Paribas release cadence.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting (Dynatrace, Grafana, etc.) for availability, capacity and performance.
  • Keep architecture diagrams, configuration records and runbooks uptodate.
  • Provide 2ndline support to developers and application support teams; troubleshoot performance or accessibility issues.
  • Act as the first point of contact for DBrelated production incidents and participate in postmortem reviews.
  • Collaborate with the incidentmanagement team on networkrelated events that affect databases.
  • Automate routine tasks (backups, patching, health checks) using scripting languages (Shell, Python, PowerShell) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Identify and implement performancetuning and costoptimisation opportunities.
  • Monitor emerging database technologies and resilience practices (DRP, BCP, HA) to keep the platform futureready.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Oracle (12c/19c/21c) RMAN, Data Guard, PL/SQL - 5 + years
  • Backup & recovery, patch management, security hardening
  • Monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus)
  • Scripting/automation (Shell, Python, PowerShell)
  • DRP/BCP/HA concepts
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven ability to work in a global, 24 7 production environment.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
