Job Description
ABOUT US:
Join a team that is redefining the accessibility of space. Azista space is a transformative force in the global aerospace sector, uniquely positioned at the intersection of indigenous innovation and industrial scalability. Operating India's first private-sector satellite mass-production facility in Ahmedabad, we have bridged the gap between complex engineering and high-volume manufacturing.
As a vertically integrated leader, we provide end-to-end solutions from the precision design of satellite buses and advanced payloads to mission management and communication systems. We don't just build hardware, we are democratizing the final frontier by providing global clientele with the cost-effective, high-performance technology needed to power the next generation of orbital missions. At Azista, you won't just be starting a job, you'll be fuelling the future of space exploration.
JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for an Optical Engineer – QA (Optical Payloads) to join our mission. In this role, you will play a critical part in overseeing quality assurance across optical fabrication, assembly, alignment, and testing for space-grade refractive and reflective imaging systems. Tailored for fresh graduates and early-career engineers (1–3 years of experience), this position offers hands-on exposure to cleanroom operations, space qualification processes, and advanced optical metrology.
You will work cross-functionally with optical design and AIT (Assembly, Integration & Testing) teams to draft QA procedures aligned with NASA, ECSS, and ISRO standards. If you have a passion for precision optics and want to launch your career in aerospace quality assurance, your journey starts here.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- QA Procedure Development: Draft and implement robust quality assurance protocols for optical component fabrication, coating, and subsystem assembly following NASA, ECSS, and ISRO guidelines.
- Cross-Functional Alignment Oversight: Partner closely with optical, opto-mechanical, and system engineers during payload integration, ensuring rigorous adherence to QA guidelines during alignment using interferometers, autocollimators, and theodolites.
- Design Review Documentation: Prepare comprehensive QA chapters and compliance metrics for Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR) of optical payloads.
- Contamination & Cleanroom Control: Enforce strict cleanroom protocols and contamination control procedures through routine verification during integration and testing campaigns.
- Test & Evaluation Execution: Collaborate on test and evaluation documentation, monitoring optical parameters during environmental tests (thermal, thermal vacuum, vibration, and shock) and compiling electro-optic measurement reports.
- Calibration Support: Participate in end-to-end radiometric and spectral calibration exercises to ensure final payload performance remains strictly within design tolerances.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Applied Optics, Photonics, or a Master's degree in Physics / Applied Physics with a strong academic focus on optics.
- Experience: Fresh graduates with relevant academic projects, internships, or lab work in optics, OR early-career professionals with 1–3 years of experience in optical QA or related environments.
- Core Knowledge: Foundational understanding of optical principles, imaging systems, and basic optical alignment techniques.
- Soft Skills: Ability to thrive in a team-based, multidisciplinary, and fast-paced engineering environment with a keen eye for detail.
PREFERRED / NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:
- Hands-on experience with optical metrology tools such as interferometers, spectrometers, or theodolites.
- Practical knowledge of cleanroom working protocols and contamination control.
- Prior academic or internship exposure to optical system testing, calibration, or environmental testing.
- Familiarity with aerospace space standards (ECSS, NASA, or ISRO).
WHY JOIN US
- Pioneering Impact: Work at the forefront of India's private aerospace revolution, contributing directly to live satellite and orbital payload missions.
- Merit-Based Growth: Azista subscribes to a merit-driven career progression model, allowing you to scale your expertise and step into technical leadership based on capability, not just vacancies.
- Cutting-Edge Exposure: Gain hands-on exposure to high-precision optical systems, space qualification workflows, and advanced cleanroom operations.
- Collaborative Culture: Join an energetic, inclusive community of engineers and innovators dedicated to making space technology accessible globally.
