Job Description
The Consultant Ophthalmologist will be responsible for delivering comprehensive eye care services, including outpatient consultations, diagnostic evaluations, medical management, and surgical interventions. The hospital caters to a large and diverse patient base, ensuring consistent patient flow and significant hands-on experience.
This role is open to both
OPD-based ophthalmologists and
surgeons , with flexibility based on the candidate's expertise and interests. Surgeons will have access to modern infrastructure and a wide variety of cases, enabling strong surgical exposure and skill development.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Conduct thorough ophthalmic evaluations for patients presenting with a wide range of eye conditions.
- Diagnose and manage conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, refractive errors, retinal diseases, corneal disorders, and ocular infections.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for surgical patients.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with hospital protocols.
Surgical Responsibilities (for Surgeons)- Perform ophthalmic surgeries including, but not limited to:
- Phacoemulsification with IOL implantation
- Small incision cataract surgery (SICS)
- Pterygium excision
- Basic glaucoma procedures
- Minor lid and adnexal surgeries
- Ensure adherence to sterile techniques and surgical safety protocols.
- Participate in surgical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Outpatient Department (OPD) Responsibilities
- Manage high patient volumes efficiently while maintaining quality care.
- Provide patient counseling regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive care.
- Prescribe medications and corrective lenses as required.
Collaboration Teamwork
- Work closely with other specialists and departments within the hospital.
- Coordinate with optometrists, nursing staff, and technicians for seamless patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions when needed.
Administrative Compliance Duties
- Adhere to NABH standards and hospital policies.
- Contribute to clinical audits, quality assurance programs, and accreditation processes.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all patient interactions.
Experience
- Freshers with strong clinical and surgical training are welcome
- Experienced consultants preferred for advanced surgical roles
- Exposure to high patient volumes will be an advantage
