Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Ophthalmologist role based at R K Devi Memorial Hospital in Kanpur Nagar. The Ophthalmologist will provide comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and manage ocular diseases, and prescribe appropriate medical and optical treatments. Daily responsibilities include performing ophthalmic procedures and surgeries as indicated, including laser treatments, cataract and other anterior segment surgeries, and minor outpatient procedures. The role involves reviewing patient histories, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, coordinating care with other medical specialties, and maintaining detailed, accurate clinical documentation. The Ophthalmologist will also counsel patients and families on treatment options, post-operative care, and preventive eye health, while contributing to quality improvement and clinical protocols within the department.
Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Medicine with the ability to manage systemic conditions related to eye health.
• Clinical expertise in Ophthalmology, including diagnosis and management of common and complex ocular disorders.
• Skills in Optometry-related assessments, including refraction, prescribing glasses or contact lenses, and basic vision evaluation.
• Proficiency in Laser procedures relevant to ophthalmic care, such as YAG, retinal laser, or other indicated treatments.
• Surgical competence in ophthalmic Surgery, including cataract surgery and other intraocular or oculoplastic procedures as appropriate.
• Recognized medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (MS/MD/DNB or equivalent), with valid medical registration.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, with clear and respectful communication with patients and colleagues.
• Commitment to ethical practice, patient safety, and continuous professional development, including openness to new techniques and technologies.
• Experience in hospital-based ophthalmology practice and familiarity with standard ophthalmic equipment and EMR systems is an advantage.
