Role Overview
The Operations Manager - IT will own the end-to-end workforce planning and allocation function for Sparrow. This role sits at the intersection of people, projects, and operations — requiring a strong understanding of software development lifecycles, team structures, and capacity planning. You will partner closely with Project Managers, Team Leads, HR, and the Business Head to optimize resource utilization and enable on-time project staffing.
Key Responsibilities
Resource Planning & Allocation
- Manage end-to-end resource allocation across active and upcoming software development projects.
- Forecast demand based on project pipelines, hiring plans, and capacity data.
- Match engineer profiles (skills, experience, availability) to project requirements in collaboration with Tech Leads.
- Maintain a real-time resource utilization dashboard and flag bottlenecks proactively.
Workforce Optimization
- Maximise resource utilisation through proactive inter-project mobility and internal deployment strategies.
- Track billability ratios, utilization rates, and resource efficiency KPIs.
- Identify skill gaps and partner with Learning & Development to address them.
- Drive workforce redeployment plans during project ramp-downs or transitions.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact between project managers, leads, and HR for all resourcing needs.
- Facilitate weekly resourcing review meetings and publish action-oriented reports.
- Manage escalations related to resource conflicts, shortages, or urgent staffing gaps.
Hiring & Onboarding Coordination
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to initiate, track, and close open requisitions for technical roles.
- Maintain JD libraries and skill matrices to streamline hiring processes.
- Ensure smooth onboarding of new joiners into project teams.
Reporting & Analytics
- Build and maintain resource management dashboards (utilization, allocation, forecast vs. actuals).
- Generate weekly/monthly MIS reports for leadership on headcount, attrition risk, and hiring health.
- Conduct data-driven analysis to support hiring decisions and organizational structuring.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must-Have
- 1–3 years of experience in Resource Management, Workforce Planning, or Delivery Operations in a software/IT services organization.
- Strong understanding of software development roles: Frontend, Backend, Full-Stack, QA, DevOps, Data, Mobile, etc.
- Working knowledge of GitHub — understanding repositories, branches, pull requests, and basic version control workflows.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Good to Have
- Prior experience in a software product or services company with 100+ engineers.
- Familiarity with core programming languages and frameworks used in software development, including .NET, React, Node.js, and similar technologies — sufficient to evaluate skill profiles and communicate with teams.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum frameworks.
- Knowledge of manufacturing industry or compliance-heavy operational environments (aligned with Sparrow RMS's domain).
