Role Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented and proactive Operations Associate to join Unacademy's Legal team. The role involves managing compliance operations, process optimization, vendor due diligence, piracy monitoring, and contract lifecycle processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, tool management expertise, and a problem-solving mindset to streamline legal workflows, ensure regulatory adherence, and support automation initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. KYC Compliance:

Assist in the verification and validation of stakeholder identification documents.

Conduct background checks on new and existing partners to ensure compliance with KYC policies.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and review stakeholder's data for accuracy and completeness.

Maintain accurate records of customer due diligence activities.

2. Anti-Piracy Efforts

Monitor online platforms and websites for potential piracy activities.

Conduct investigations to identify and track copyright infringements.

Assist in the implementation of strategies to prevent and combat piracy.

Support the takedown process by reporting infringing content to appropriate authorities.

3. Contract & Database Management

Oversee the centralized contract database and ensure all executed agreements are recorded, updated, and easily retrievable.

Maintain document workflows and support the team in using the tool effectively

Ensure version control, access management, and audit readiness.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

Prepare reports and summaries of KYC and anti-piracy activities.

Maintain documentation related to KYC procedures, including policies and guidelines.

Assist in the creation of training materials for employees on KYC and anti-piracy best practices.

5. Tool, Process & Automation Management

Administer and manage legal operations tools (CLM tools, Litigation tool, Legal chatbots, etc).

Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements within legal workflows.

Build and run simple Excel/Python automations or scripts to extract insights, reconcile data, and reduce manual effort.

Train internal stakeholders on tool usage and drive implementation.

6. Vendor Management:

Assist in the management of vendors related to KYC and anti-piracy and Legal operations.

Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of services.

Track vendor performance and provide regular reports.

Support the evaluation and selection process for new vendors, as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

  1. Education: Candidates from B.Tech, B.Com, BBA (preferable), MBA, or similar backgrounds are eligible. Degrees in LL.B. or LL.M. are not preferred, since this role is operations-focused and not core legal work.
  2. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with sensitive information.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Comfortable with basic Python or no-code/low-code automation to streamline processes and extract insights.
  5. Proficiency in using MS Office suite and Google Sheets.
  6. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
