Operational Risk Manager (1LoD) - Account Compliance
The Account Compliance team at Amazon is dedicated to making the organization the safest and most trusted place to buy and sell. Our primary goal is to protect our customers interests while balancing risk management with exceptional customer experience. This is achieved through our global First Line of Defense (1LoD) risk program.
We are now seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager to join our Global 1LoD risk program.
Key job responsibilities
Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)
. Conduct ongoing RCSAs to lead and support regular Risk & Control Self-Assessments, identifying, assessing, and reviewing the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management and control systems
. Facilitate RCSA workshops to help identify unknown operational risks and enhance risk awareness across the organization
. Provide oversight of Management Control Indicators (MCIs) to ensure they effectively signal potential control weaknesses or emerging risks
. Review MCI thresholds and escalation protocols, ensuring timely identification and response to control deterioration
. Partner with business teams to validate that MCIs remain relevant, effective, and aligned with evolving risk profiles
. Lead change management initiatives related to the implementation and evolution of the 1LoD risk framework
. Assess the operational risk impact of organizational changes, new products, processes, or systems
. Support stakeholders through transitions, ensuring risk considerations are embedded in change initiatives from inception
. Ensure consistent understanding and awareness of operational risks across the organization through collaboration with various functions
. Engage with stakeholders to drive risk mitigation through comprehensive risk assessment and treatment plans
. Present risk assessment findings and recovery strategies to key stakeholders across 1st and 2nd Line of Defense
- 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of managing food safety and quality in a large-scale retail or manufacturing environment experience
- Knowledge of retail food code and regulations governing grocery retail at local, state, and federal levels
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience handling confidential information
- Experience interacting with local food safety regulators
- 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
- Experience with SQL and Excel
