  • The Non-Financial Risk Management (NFRM) team works in partnership with the bank's business and infrastructure functions to proactively manage the bank's risk profile and improve the control environment. Our mission is to simplify processes, to increase active partnership, to reduce administration, and to deliver practical and sustainable risk management solutions.
  • This position is within Non-Financial Risk Management (NFRM) within the 2nd Line of Defence (LoD). NFRM is the Level 1 Risk Type Controller (RTC) for Operational Risk (OR) and provides a set of interconnected risk management tools and processes, the NFRM Framework, that support and enable non-financial risk management within the Business, which includes setting the policy and minimum standards for various framework components.
  • The Framework and its components are designed to enable the identification, assessment, monitoring and management of non-financial risks. The Framework components operate together to provide a comprehensive approach to managing the Bank's non-financial risks.
  • In addition to its responsibility acting as L1-RTC for OR, NFRM acts as the RTC for the NFRM Framework Risk type at L3/L4 and monitors, assesses and challenges its implementation, aggregates the Group's Operational Risk Profile, and monitors overall risk levels against the bank's Group Risk Appetite.

The role holder will work within the NFRM Framework team to support the definition, design, development, maintenance, and further enhancement of the bank wide NFR Framework, incl.

  • working as part of the L1-RTC team for the OR Risk Type at Group Risk Type Taxonomy level which includes overseeing all NFRM-controlled Risk Types within the Non-Financial Risk Type Taxonomy (NFRTT)
  • working as part of the L3/L4-RTC team for the NFRM Framework Risk Type (e.g., setting Risk Appetite, participating in the Risk and Control assessment, defining Minimum Control standards, and independently monitor, assess, and challenge the Risk Owners implementation of these standards)
  • working on specific components of the NFRM Framework (e.g., pertaining to Risk identification, Risk assessment, Risk mitigation, or Risk monitoring)
  • working on processes supporting the development and maintenance of the Framework (e.g., Governance, Regulatory adherence, Model change governance, Policies & Standards, Reference data & tools)

Your key responsibilities

  • Acting as a member of the Risk Type Controller (RTC) team and overseeing the Operational Risk Framework's Risk Profile, incl.:
    • Review, assess, and prepare relevant contextual information pertaining to the NFRM Framework Risk type (including findings, internal and external loss data, metrics, and remediation progress) to determine if updates are required to the risk profile
    • Perform regular Risk assessments including assessing the inherent and residual risks as well as the control environment
    • Define Risk appetite statements and perform regular Risk appetite monitoring
    • Prepare and present Risk reports
    • Participate in the regular Risk- and Control Assessment process (RCA), and create and maintain an active RCA summary report that includes key themes and risk drivers, new and emerging risks, and planning and progress of remediation activities
    • Create and maintain a Controls & mitigants report, and participate in the regular certification, assessment, and assurance of controls
    • Participate in Transformation Risk Assessments (TRA) and Third Part Risk Assessments
    • Review, interpret, clarify new or changes requirements pertaining to the responsibilities of RTCs
    • Review and discuss independent Framework Adherence monitoring results
  • Support development and enhancement of NFR Framework components incl. performing impact analysis of potential design changes, planning and executing updates to policies and procedures, stakeholder consultation, and conducting presentations and trainings
  • Participate in processes supporting the development and maintenance of the Framework, incl.
    • Participating in the coordination and execution of Regulatory adherence exercises for material regulations
    • Participating in the coordination and execution of Model change governance pertaining the changes to the NFR Framework
    • Supporting the development and maintenance of NFRM Policies & Standards and Reference data & tools

Your skills and experience

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in business administration, banking, finance, economics or business administration is desirable
  • More than seven years of relevant professional work experience
  • Professional experience in (Operational) Risk, Compliance, Audit, Governance, Business Controls, would be an advantage
  • Experience with the design and/or implementation of Frameworks (e.g., regarding Risks, Compliance, Controls, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience in working with teams spanning multiple geographical locations
  • Experience in the preparation of presentations for senior management
  • Experience in business analysis and/or project management would be an advantage
  • Experience with managing various stakeholders, deadlines and adhering to regulatory/audit requirements would be an advantage
  • Experience in reviewing and interpreting regulatory requirements and their implementation in the organization would be an advantage

  • Ability to analyze, brainstorm about, and structure new requirements, and develop approaches and plans for implementation without a lot of guidance and oversight (this role is not just about execution)
  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently, with a natural tendency to use data in decision-making and prioritization
  • Ability to prepare, participate/proactively lead and document discussions & build relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, and the ability to review, understand, and summarize complex requirements and potential solutions, and communicate these on an operational as well as senior management level
  • Good eye for detail and a focus on high quality work products that require little guidance and oversight
  • Project management: Experience in structuring, planning, and executing project work
  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint) and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Comfortable to work in a very international environment across different teams and various timezones, and the willingness to share knowledge with and learn from others
