About The Role
The Operational Risk Analyst monitors business processes and performance data to identify and escalate operational risks. The role supports quality assurance, risk analysis, and reporting, provides data to support business decisions, and works with teams to ensure operational risk is considered in business change and development.
Responsibilities
- Execute monitoring of all key business processes to help identify trends, issues, or opportunities. Investigate and provide information to the Operational Risk Manager or Senior Operational Risk Analyst on cause, impact and any remedial action required.
- Consistently review department and company-wide KPI data to proactively spot any trends, investigate root causes, and escalate to Operational Risk management where necessary.
- Support Operational Risk Analytics team and wider business with ad hoc internal data requests, assisting other departments with ongoing projects or growth initiatives.
- Support QA reviews of all key business processes as per the QA schedule. Investigate risks, opportunities and provide accurate reports to line manager and the Risk Management Team on cause, impact and any remedial action required.
- Execute QA of the CRA reporting within the business, supporting team members, and dealing with escalations when necessary. Regularly review existing QA process to improve our processes.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and other projects as required which impact on key business process change or development.
- Work effectively with other members of the Risk Team and the business, building effective working relationships which add value and allow for business opportunities or issues to be addressed in a timely and cohesive manner.
- Ensure that the Risk Team is viewed positively by the business and as such is asked for assistance where appropriate.
- Keep up to date with new initiatives or products within the industry.
- To provide resource/mandate cover for line manager and attend internal/external meetings on their behalf as is required.
- Ad-hoc tasks as agreed with line or senior management.
What You'll Need To Succeed
- Intermediate user of Excel
- Able to use SQL at intermediate level
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment (ideally financial services)
- Ability to proactively problem solve without need for explicit direction
Desirable:
- Previous experience of tracking and reporting on KPIs and other performance metrics
- Previous experience working with data visualisation/BI tools
