The Operation Theater Incharge is responsible for overseeing the management and operations of the surgical department within a hospital. This role involves coordinating surgical schedules, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and managing surgical staff to deliver optimal patient care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the operation theater, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to protocols.
- Manage surgical schedules and coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff for optimal patient care.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and infection control measures in the operation theater.
- Maintain and manage surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring they are sterilized and ready for use.
- Conduct regular training sessions for staff on best practices and updated procedures in the operation theater.
- Monitor patient safety and comfort during surgical procedures, addressing any issues that arise promptly.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and patient outcomes.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field; advanced certifications in perioperative nursing preferred.
- 10-15 years of experience in a surgical setting, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and aseptic techniques.
- Proficient in operating room management and surgical scheduling software.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage a diverse team effectively.
