The Operation Theater Incharge is responsible for overseeing the management and operations of the surgical department within a hospital. This role involves coordinating surgical schedules, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and managing surgical staff to deliver optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the operation theater, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to protocols.
  • Manage surgical schedules and coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff for optimal patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and infection control measures in the operation theater.
  • Maintain and manage surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring they are sterilized and ready for use.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for staff on best practices and updated procedures in the operation theater.
  • Monitor patient safety and comfort during surgical procedures, addressing any issues that arise promptly.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and patient outcomes.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field; advanced certifications in perioperative nursing preferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in a surgical setting, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and aseptic techniques.
  • Proficient in operating room management and surgical scheduling software.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage a diverse team effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
