Key Responsibilities
- Head and manage the entire Solar O&M team, including site engineers, technicians, supervisors, and support teams.
- Take overall responsibility for the operation and maintenance of solar PV projects and sites.
- Monitor plant performance, generation, availability, PR, and equipment efficiency.
- Ensure timely preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities across all sites.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to solar modules, inverters, HT/LT systems, transformers, SCADA, protection systems, cables, and other plant equipment.
- Review daily/monthly O&M reports and identify performance gaps and improvement areas.
- Ensure effective manpower planning, deployment, and productivity across project sites.
- Coordinate with clients, project teams, vendors, contractors, and internal departments for smooth O&M operations.
- Take ownership of site-level operational issues, breakdowns, major maintenance activities, and escalations.
- Establish and implement O&M SOPs, preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety, statutory requirements, and company HSE policies.
- Monitor spare parts, tools, consumables, and critical equipment requirements for O&M activities.
- Control O&M costs and ensure efficient utilization of manpower and resources.
- Analyse recurring equipment failures and implement root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support warranty claims and coordinate with OEMs/service providers for equipment-related issues.
- Conduct regular site inspections and performance reviews.
- Prepare and present O&M MIS, plant performance reports, maintenance reports, and management dashboards.
- Drive initiatives to improve plant availability, generation, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and mentor the O&M team and build a strong technical and site-management culture.
- Take overall responsibility for achieving O&M operational targets and KPIs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
- 15+ years of experience in the Solar / Renewable Energy sector, with significant experience in Solar O&M.
- Strong experience in managing multiple solar project sites and large O&M teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of Solar PV systems, inverters, HT/LT systems, transformers, SCADA, protection systems, and electrical equipment.
- Proven experience in handling large-scale solar plant operations and maintenance.
- Strong leadership, team management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Willingness to travel extensively to project sites as required.
