Onshore Rig Move Supervisor

Job Overview

The Onshore Rig Move Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the safe and efficient movement of drilling rigs between locations. The role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and strict adherence to safety standards.

The Supervisor ensures all rig move activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and HSE standards while maintaining operational efficiency and minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities

1. Planning & Coordination

• Develop comprehensive rig move plans, including timelines, manpower allocation, and logistics requirements.
• Coordinate with Drilling, Logistics, Engineering, and HSE departments.
• Conduct pre-move meetings to communicate execution plans and responsibilities.
• Identify potential risks and mitigation strategies before execution.

2. Safety Management

• Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards.
• Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
• Monitor field operations to ensure safe rigging, lifting, and transport practices.
• Immediately intervene in unsafe situations and enforce corrective actions.

3. Operational Supervision

• Supervise dismantling, loading, transportation, and reassembly of rigs.
• Manage rig crews, heavy transport drivers, crane operators, and subcontractors.
• Ensure lifting equipment and transport vehicles are certified and fit for purpose.
• Troubleshoot operational challenges during the rig move process.

4. Logistics Management

• Arrange transportation for equipment and manpower.
• Ensure proper inventory management of tools and rig components.
• Coordinate specialized transport requirements with third-party vendors.
• Monitor convoy movements and site access compliance.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain detailed records of rig move activities and schedules.
• Prepare daily and final rig move reports.
• Document incidents, delays, and operational challenges.
• Ensure permits and regulatory documentation are complete and compliant.

6. Continuous Improvement

• Evaluate rig move performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Conduct post-move reviews with teams.
• Implement best practices to improve efficiency and safety standards.
• Promote a culture of operational excellence.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Mandatory)
• Technical certifications in rigging, lifting, or oil & gas operations (Preferred)

Experience

• Minimum 10+ years in rig operations
• At least 5 years in a supervisory role
