About the Role
Our client is seeking a board-certified oncologist to serve as an expert witness for an ongoing California-based medico-legal case.
This engagement focuses on evaluating clinical decision-making in oncology care, specifically the timing of treatment escalation and the potential influence of external factors (e.g., prior accident) on medical judgment.
The selected expert will play a critical role in analysing medical records, forming an independent opinion, and supporting legal proceedings where necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse comprehensive medical records, imaging, and treatment timelines
- Evaluate whether timely escalation of care was warranted as the tumour progressed
- Assess the impact of a prior accident on clinical decision-making
- Provide a clear, evidence-based opinion on the standard of care and causation
- Prepare a written expert report suitable for legal proceedings
- Participate in case discussions with legal teams
- Be available for deposition and/or court testimony if required
Required Qualifications
- Board-certified oncologist (proof required)
- Strong understanding of oncology treatment protocols and disease progression
- Familiarity with the U.S. standard of care (California experience strongly preferred)
- Ability to provide objective, defensible medical opinions
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior expert witness or medico-legal consulting experience
- Academic affiliation, teaching roles, or peer-reviewed publications
- Experience handling cases involving treatment delays or clinical decision analysis

- Able to clearly explain complex medical concepts to non-medical audiences

Compensation
