Job Description

Position Summary

The On-Site Support Engineer is the primary technical and liaison link between the customer's production floor and the internal manufacturing ecosystem. This role requires an agile, solution-oriented professional responsible for the installation, periodic calibration, and continuous process improvement of high-precision Fixtures used in Electronic Gadget Manufacturing.

Core Responsibilities

  • Process Improvement & Feedback Loop
  • DFM/DFA Feedback: Provide systematic periodic feedback to the internal Manufacturing Unit based on on-site performance data to improve Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Assembly (DFA).
  • Reliability Enhancement: Analyze recurring technical issues or component failures to suggest design or material changes, enhancing the long-term reliability of supplies.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Document on-site Lessons Learned and collaborate with the production team to implement permanent corrective actions in the manufacturing process.
  • Periodic Calibration & Metrology
  • Standardized Calibration: Execute periodic calibration schedules to ensure dimensional accuracy and repeatability
  • Instrumentation: Proficiency in using CMM reports, 3D scanners, and laser trackers to validate fixture geometry against original design specifications.
  • Technical Liaison & Issue Resolution
  • Ecosystem Coordination: Act as a high-speed bridge to the Internal Manufacturing Unit, suppliers, and sub-contractors to expedite spare parts or design modifications.
  • Downtime Reduction: Drive the rapid identification and resolution of mechatronic failures to ensure Zero Downtime on the customer's production line.
  • Customer & Interpersonal Management
  • Customer Interface: Maintain professional, transparent communication with customer engineering heads. Handle Customer Audits and ensure 100% closure of audit points.
  • Agile Problem Solving: Provide solution-oriented support in challenging environments, performing quick mechanical or PLC adjustments as required.

Technical & Soft Skills

  • Education & Experience
  • Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: 4–7 years in field support, commissioning, or quality/process engineering for automated fixtures.
  • Core Competencies
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to translate field failures into technical process improvements for the manufacturing plant.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to liaise effectively between sub-contractors, internal production units, and customer stakeholders.
  • Technical Breadth: Proficiency in reading 3D CAD models, PLC logic (Delta/Siemens/Mitsubishi), and electrical/pneumatic schematics.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  • Process Optimization: Number of design/process improvements implemented based on field feedback.
  • Supply Reliability: Reduction in the frequency of Repeat Issues across new fixture batches.
  • Calibration Compliance: 100% adherence to the periodic calibration schedule.
  • Audit Success: Timely closure of all points raised during customer site inspections.
