Role Summary
Omnissa VDI & Azure VDI

We are seeking a skilled VDI & FACETS Engineer to support and maintain our virtual desktop and application environment. This role will be responsible for patching, vulnerability management, application packaging, image management, troubleshooting, and platform support across VDI and FACETS systems, with hands-on experience in Omnissa Horizon, ControlUp, BeyondTrust, and Airlock.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform patching for VDI, FACETS, servers, third-party applications, and security updates.
• Manage and remediate vulnerabilities across VDI and FACETS environments.
• Package applications using AppStack and deploy applications using PDQ.
• Troubleshoot VDI and application issues, including Oracle and other application-related problems.
• Update, modify, or remove application packages as required by application owners.
• Support server patching and troubleshoot VDI server and FACETS issues.
• Upgrade golden images and FACETS versions and execute UAT testing.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to ensure upgrades do not impact FACETS stability.
• Handle VDI issues from basic to advanced level and raise cases with Omnissa when needed.
• Use ControlUp for monitoring, performance analysis, and proactive issue detection across the VDI environment.
• Support privileged access and secure access workflows using BeyondTrust.
• Work with Airlock as part of application or access control/security-related operations, as applicable to the environment.
• Manage certificate renewal activities for VDI and FACETS environments.
• Create and maintain pool group health checks and ensure sufficient VM availability in pools.
Required Experience
• Hands-on experience supporting VDI environments, preferably with Omnissa Horizon or VMware Horizon.
• Experience with ControlUp, BeyondTrust, and Airlock in an enterprise support environment.
• Experience with App Volumes/AppStack and application deployment tools such as PDQ.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across VDI, servers, and applications.
• Experience with patching, vulnerability management, and certificate renewals.
• Familiarity with golden image management and upgrade testing.
• Ability to collaborate across technical teams and support production environments.
Coverage / Schedule
• Coverage will be staggered to support 6 AM EST – 7PM EST.
• The 2 resources should coordinate to provide continuous coverage across overlapping or staggered shifts.
• Each resource will serve as the primary on-call contact during their working hours.
Screening Emphasis
Please prioritize candidates who have strong hands-on experience in the areas below. Since this is a client-facing role and the resource will be working directly with the client team, communication skills are mandatory along with technical skills. Please give special attention to assessing communication skills during interviews.
Preferred
• Experience supporting FACETS environments.
• Independently troubleshoot complex VDI and application deployment issues.
• Distinguish between an application defect, packaging defect, VDI image issue, profile issue, identity issue, and network dependency.
• Lead technical investigations without requiring step-by-step supervision.
• Create a reliable workaround while developing a permanent fix.
• Design deployment and rollback plans for production changes.
• Validate technical solutions across pilot and production user groups.
• Communicate impact, risk, status, and next steps clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Mentor L1 and L2 support teams and improve knowledge articles and runbooks.
• Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual support effort.
• Provide evidence-based root cause analysis rather than relying on assumptions.
Education
• B.E./B. Tech/M.C.A./M.Sc. (CS) degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
