Educational Qualification

B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering – Minimum

CTC

4.0 – 4.5 Lakh per annum, depending on experience, technical knowledge and suitability for the role.

JOB PURPOSE

To supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the corn oil extraction section, ensuring efficient operation of expellers, optimum oil recovery, consistent raw oil quality, proper raw-material accounting and reliable mechanical maintenance of the oil mill.

The candidate must have strong hands-on knowledge of expeller machines, including operation, adjustment, troubleshooting and maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Expeller Operations

• Supervise day-to-day operation of corn oil expeller machines and associated equipment.
• Have practical knowledge of:
• Feed rate
• Screw/shaft loading
• Barrel and choke adjustment
• Temperature control
• Motor loading and amperage
• Oil recovery
• Cake formation and quality
• Optimize expeller parameters to achieve maximum oil extraction with minimum oil loss in cake.
• Handle start-up, shutdown and changeover procedures.
• Identify abnormal machine conditions and take corrective action.

2. Corn Oil Extraction

• Understand the complete mechanical extraction process for raw corn oil.
• Monitor the relationship between raw-material condition, moisture, temperature, feed rate and oil recovery.
• Monitor oil yield and extraction efficiency.
• Investigate variations in oil recovery and implement corrective measures.
• Monitor the quality and condition of extracted raw corn oil.

3. Mechanical Maintenance

• Have strong technical knowledge of expellers and associated mechanical equipment.
• Supervise preventive and breakdown maintenance of:
• Expellers
• Feeders
• Conveyors
• Pumps
• Gearboxes
• Motors
• Filters
• Elevators
• Identify mechanical problems and coordinate repairs with the maintenance team.
• Maintain breakdown and preventive-maintenance records.
• Monitor wear and tear of screws, barrels, bearings, gears and shafts.
• Maintain adequate stock of critical spares.

4. Raw Material Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Maintain accurate records of raw material received, consumed and processed.
• Maintain daily stock and consumption records.
• Reconcile:
• Opening stock
• Material received
• Material consumed
• Oil production
• Cake production
• Closing stock
• Oil recovery
• Monitor material movement from storage to the oil mill.
• Identify and report abnormal material losses or variations.
• Coordinate with Stores and Accounts for proper documentation.

5. Production Supervision

• Plan daily production in coordination with the Plant Head.
• Ensure optimum utilization of expeller capacity.
• Allocate manpower and supervise operators and helpers.
• Monitor shift-wise production.
• Maintain daily production reports.
• Ensure production targets are achieved efficiently.

6. Yield & Process Efficiency

• Continuously monitor oil extraction efficiency.
• Monitor oil losses in cake.
• Track:
• Raw material consumption
• Oil production
• Cake production
• Oil recovery %
• Oil losses
• Machine utilization
• Power consumption
• Identify opportunities to improve yield and reduce operating costs.

7. Team Management

• Supervise oil mill operators, helpers and other workers.
• Train operators in proper expeller operation and basic troubleshooting.
• Ensure operators follow SOPs and safety procedures.
• Monitor discipline, attendance and shift performance.

8. Safety & Housekeeping

• Ensure safe operation of all oil mill machinery.
• Ensure proper PPE usage.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the oil mill.
• Ensure machine guards and safety devices are functional.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions and potential hazards.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate should be a hands-on mechanical professional rather than only an administrative supervisor.

He should be capable of:

• Independently operating and troubleshooting expellers.
• Understanding the technical reasons behind changes in oil recovery.
• Identifying mechanical problems on the shop floor.
• Improving extraction efficiency.
• Maintaining accurate raw-material and production records.
• Managing operators and oil mill workers.
• Taking responsibility for the overall performance of the oil mill.

Preferred Industry Experience

Experience in any of the following will be preferred:

• Corn oil extraction
• Maize/corn processing
• Edible oil extraction
• Oil mills
• Expeller-based oil extraction
• Rice bran, groundnut, sunflower or similar vegetable oil extraction

Salary: 4.0–4.5 LPA CTC

Experience: 5–6+ years
