We WSP a leading engineering consultancy firm, is seeking an experienced Overhead Transmission Line Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in transmission tower design, PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, and related software. This role involves working on high-voltage transmission line projects, providing expert design solutions, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze overhead transmission lines (11kV, 33kV to 400kV+) using PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, and other tools.
- Overseeing technical activities, line routing, sag-tension calculations, structure analysis, conductor selection, clearance reports, and design documentation
- Develop and analyze self-supporting, guyed, and monopole transmission towers.
- Prepares detailed design drawings, reports, specifications, bills of materials and other documentation for Transmission Line works
- Perform structural load analysis, foundation design, and stress calculations.
- Advanced expertise in PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, AutoCAD, and related engineering tools.
- Ensure all designs comply with IEEE, IEC, ASCE, NESC, ANSI, and other international standards.
- Conduct electrical clearance studies and load compliance reviews.
- Conduct wind, ice, seismic, and load impact studies as per project locations.
- Ensure electrical and mechanical clearances align with safety requirements.
- Support project teams by providing technical guidance, review of designs, and feasibility assessments.
- Develop technical specifications, specifications, QA/QC procedures, deliverable templates, and other means of increasing efficiency in our day-to-day operations.
- Reviews contractor design documentation and project implementation schedules and procedures
- Conduct field visits for topographic surveys, line inspections, and validation of design parameters.
- Resolve site-specific technical challenges in collaboration with field teams.
- Provide technical recommendations and support tender preparation.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to improve design efficiency.
- Identify and implement cost-effective solutions without compromising quality and safety.
- Leading and mentoring a team of specialist design engineers working on overhead transmission line solutions
- Identifying and manage project risks to ensure successful delivery
- Manage and lead HV/EHV Overhead Line designs at all project stages
