KBR is looking for Offshore Structural Engineer

MISSION:

• Perform technical tasks assigned by the Project Structural Lead, related with structural analyses, design, verification, or study activities.
• Interface with other Project Specialists and Designers
• Co-ordinate technical activities performed inside or outside discipline.
• To plan assigned project team activities defining technical roles and tasks to handle Project scope of work. Capability to estimate the needed number of resources and their skills to meet project milestones and targets.

TASKS:

• Design & engineering of decks / topsides modules for fixed, floating & FPSO structures, design, and analysis of primary, secondary & tertiary steel structures.
• Good working knowledge of structural software such as SACS/STAAD Pro, exposure on SESAM will be an added advantage. Familiar with International codes and standards like API, AISC, AWS, BS, DNV, Norsok and ISO.
• Execute the activities within his area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with the QA/QC and HSE requirements.
• Contribute to the writing of the Project Structural Design Brief (Roadmap of all the structural design and analyses work on the project)
• Liaise with other Project Specialists and Designers whenever required for the proper completion of the work assigned.
• Design structural systems and components, pursuing objectives of sound. engineering and design optimization in term of costs, fabrication simplicity, constructability, and safety
• Prepare/Check/Supervise structural analyses, steel structures design drawings, supervise setting up of bill of quantities or material take off (MTO)
• Prepare, when required, specifications for structural fabrications and all related items such as bearing systems, bolts, cladding, grating, etc.
• Verify structural strength or dynamic behaviour of items designed by others (piping support Specialists, Vendors, technical building Suppliers, etc.)
• Knowledge of tools related to 2D and 3D modelling activities criteria, methods, and workflows from conceptual phase up to site engineering phase.
• Capability to define the technical documents set based on Project quantities and scope of work. Capability to perform and coordinate Project engineering documents production activities and to check and review design documents, prepared either internally or by Vendors.
• Specific knowledge of offshore Plant layout, topside equipment, handling, mechanical, materials, structural, piping, process.
• Capability to predict and understand the static and dynamic behaviour of complex steel structures typical of the offshore industry.
• Knowledge of key issues related to Yard fabrication and erection activities,
• Load-out, sea-transport and offshore installation of jackets, decks, modules, and offshore buildings
• Preparation of Structural Design Basis, in place Analysis of the Topside, Pre-service Analysis, Report & Calculations, Preparation of Secondary Steel Design Calculations, Equipment and Pipe support Design and Report.
• Experience and working knowledge, in In-service analysis (In-place & Fatigue) of Jackets with Piled foundation, pre-service analysis & mud-mat analysis of a sub-structure.
• Experience and working knowledge in performing, in-service and pre-service analysis (Lift, Loadout and Transportation) of topside structures.
• Experience in manual designs like lifting pad-eyes / trunnions, lifting frame, deck joint connection design, Tubular joint design etc.,
• Design calculations of Spreader Bar, Pad-eye, Trunnion, sling saddle and tension pipe using Excel and Mathcad spreadsheets.
• Experience in preparation of material take-offs and weight control documents.
• Experience in checking of design drawings for jackets, topside structures, and bridges.
• Good knowledge in defining Load Criteria (In-Place gravity loads, dead loads, live loads, uniform area deck loads, environmental loads, fabrication loads, construction loads, transportation loads, lift loads, equipment test loads, thermal loads, mis-alignment loads, flare boom vent loads, crane pedestal loads, blast loads, accidental loads)
