Observability Response and Reliability Technician

Ouro is looking for a proactive Observability Response and Reliability Technician to support critical areas of its processing environment. This role is essential in ensuring system reliability by automating monitoring processes and swiftly addressing production events using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. The technician will collaborate with various internal departments to troubleshoot production issues and maintain software platforms across primary, secondary, and certification environments.

Key responsibilities include overseeing software deployments, component installation, and monitoring within a 24/7 production environment, performing system administration for Linux and Windows operating systems, and leveraging scripting languages Additionally, the role requires proficiency in source control technologies, configuration management tools, MFT and enterprise scheduling softwares in order to maintain system consistency.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, follows precise procedural instructions, and possesses a fundamental understanding of processing and system health checks in complex technology environments. The technician will actively participate in on-call rotations for first-level support of critical systems, ensuring seamless operations. A willingness to learn and continuously improve procedural operations is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Use infrastructure-as-code and configuration management based platforms to complete both internal and external assignments.
  • Provide support for the Ouro processing environment, facilitating effective interaction with internal and external team members.
  • Oversee software component installations and deployments, ensuring robust monitoring in a 24/7 Production Environment. Demonstrate expertise in administering both Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Maintain scripts in various languages, including Shell, Perl, Python, and Ruby.
  • Use and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like GitLab or Jenkins.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation covering deployment and monitoring protocols in the Ouro processing environment.
  • Creation and maintenance of managed file transfers and enterprise scheduling activities.
  • Participate in Quarterly DR and HA testing.

Requirements

  • Proficient with source control technologies like Git and Subversion.
  • Experienced in using tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef or other CM tooling.
  • Committed to following strict procedural guidelines for application deployments and operating system patching.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation for critical systems and platforms.
  • Maintain high standards of precision and quality in all procedural tasks.
  • Professionally engage in incident response, offering assistance and direction effectively.
  • Adhere strictly to NetSpend procedures for data management.
  • Possess a foundational understanding of Linux, Windows and Java environments.
  • Display a commitment to continual learning and improvement in procedural operations.
  • Must be a part of a project migrating applications from on-premises to AWS.
  • Dynatrace monitoring for applications or infrastructure and custom dashboards and alerts in Dynatrace.
  • Should have experience in managing Terraform templates for infrastructure provisioning.
  • Splunk - custom queries, setup & configuration Splunk forwarders and indexers, integrated Splunk with external data sources or tools.

Must Haves -

Proficiency in Linux Commands and Utilities

User and Permissions Management

Shell Scripting Knowledge, any of Bash, Perl, Python etc

Exposure to configuration management

Network and Security Knowledge - DNS, TCP/IP. TLS

Knowledge of web servers like Apache

Configuring systems, install security certificates etc

Good Experience needed in any one Monitoring Tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana

Terraform, Puppet, AWS and on premises to AWS Migration Experience (needed)

Work Experience: 2-7 years
