Job Description

Position: Nursing Educator
Location: SPS Hospitals
Department: Nursing Education & Training
Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

Position Summary
The Nursing Educator is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating education and training programs for nursing staff at SPS Hospitals. The role focuses on strengthening clinical competencies, supporting professional development, and ensuring adherence to established clinical standards. The Nursing Educator also oversees and guides Clinical Instructors to ensure consistency and quality in training delivery across units.

Key Responsibilities
1. Education & Training Coordination
  • Develop and deliver structured orientation programs for new nursing staff.
  • Plan and conduct in-service training, skills-based workshops, CME sessions, and competency assessments.
  • Coordinate training schedules and ensure appropriate coverage of learning needs across departments.
2. Oversight of Clinical Instructors
  • Guide and support Clinical Instructors in planning and conducting unit-based training.
  • Ensure that Clinical Instructors follow standardized teaching methods and competency checklists.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of training delivered by Clinical Instructors and provide feedback and development support.
3. Clinical Competency & Quality Assurance
  • Conduct competency evaluation of nursing staff through observation, assessments, and skills checklists.
  • Identify performance and knowledge gaps through clinical audits and suggest targeted training interventions.
  • Work with Quality and Nursing teams to ensure compliance with NABH/JCI standards.
4. Curriculum & Materials Development
  • Develop evidence-based training content, SOP-driven modules, and competency frameworks.
  • Update training materials regularly to reflect new protocols, equipment, and clinical guidelines.
  • Integrate modern teaching methods, including simulation-based or scenario-based training when applicable.
5. Mentoring & Clinical Support
  • Provide bedside teaching and hands-on guidance during critical procedures.
  • Mentor nurses in professional behavior, communication, and patient safety practices.
  • Support staff with clinical decision-making and encourage best-practice care delivery.
6. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed records of all training sessions, attendance, and competency evaluations.
  • Submit regular training progress reports and recommendations to the CNO.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: 58 years of total nursing experience, with at least 12 years in education, training, or senior clinical roles.
  • Registration: Valid nursing registration per state/national council norms.
  • Preferred: Experience in NABH/JCI-accredited settings, simulation-based training, or formal teaching certifications.
