Job Description

Build India's first great hardware brand.

Native is the hardware division of Urban Company. Urban Company is the world's largest home services platform, serving India, UAE, and Singapore. We deliver an unparalleled range of services including beauty services & treatments, appliance repairs, massages, home repairs, and cleaning.

At Native, we design and build high-performance products for Indian homes. From scratch, and in-house by sweating the details in-and-out.

In just over a year, we've redefined the RO purifiers:

  • Filters that last 2 years (a first in India)
  • Zero service calls for 24 months
  • Unmatched design, fit, and finish

We also re-invented what a truly smart door lock should be like:

  • Camera that lets you see who's at the door before you open (from anywhere)
  • Truly remote unlock that works from anywhere
  • Exceptional, trend-setting design

At Urban Company and Native, we understand how to build services and products that people love and feel magical! Native is not just another hardware company. Native is your opportunity to build a new kind of brand for India that's obsessed with customer delight.

What you'll do

You will own the end-to-end programme handshake between R&D and Manufacturing the connective tissue that ensures nothing gets lost in translation when a product moves from concept to shelf.

Every time a product is modified, improved, cost-optimised, or launched afresh across NPD, Quality Improvement, VAVE, and ECN/ECO programmes you are the backbone ensuring it exits development ready for scale, with zero surprises on the factory floor.

Programme management:

  • Drive end-to-end NPI execution from design lock through mass production ramp, across NPD, VAVE, quality improvement, and ECN/ECO projects
  • Manage EVT DVT PVT stage gates with defined exit criteria; no phase exits without sign-off across R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing
  • Own the integrated project schedule; identify risks early and resolve blockers proactively
  • Prepare structured, decision-ready programme reviews for leadership

R&D Manufacturing interface:

  • Serve as the primary, trusted handshake between design intent and production reality
  • Translate engineering change notes (ECN/ECO) into manufacturing-ready action plans
  • Lead DFM/DFA reviews to ensure what is designed can be built reliably at scale
  • Ensure PPAP approvals, PFMEA updates, and control plan revisions are synchronised with every change

Stakeholder management:

  • Own alignment internally across R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Factory teams, and externally with suppliers and contract manufacturers
  • Facilitate structured project reviews and communicate clearly across levels of the organisation
  • Resolve inter-functional conflicts using data and structured problem-solving

Launch readiness & ramp:

  • Ensure every product and change exits NPI production-ready with no open critical issues
  • Define and track ramp readiness checklists: materials, tooling, fixtures, line training, documentation
  • Lead pilot builds; capture, prioritise, and close learnings before volume ramp
  • Validate applicable compliance checkpoints: BIS, food-grade, pressure, electrical

Documentation & traceability:

  • Own qualification reports, build reports, risk logs, and lessons-learned registers
  • Maintain full change traceability across BOM revisions, drawings, and supplier specifications

We are looking for

We don't care much for years of experience but we care that you are obsessed with doing some of the best work of your career.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from IIT, BITS, NIT or other top engineering colleges in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering
  • 25 years of experience in NPI, product development, manufacturing engineering, or technical programme management in a hardware company
  • Demonstrated ownership of at least one end-to-end product launch or major change programme in electromechanical or consumer hardware
  • Hands-on experience with EVT/DVT/PVT stage-gate methodology
  • Proficiency in managing ECN/ECO workflows from initiation to field validation
  • Working knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, and DFM/DFA reviews
  • Experience in consumer electronics, EV, appliances, IoT, or similar hardware industries is a strong plus
  • Proficiency in project management tooling Jira, Asana, Smartsheet, or similar is a plus

But most importantly, you're the kind who:

  • Connects dots across functions before they become downstream problems
  • Doesn't wait for alignment to happen creates it
  • Thinks how it's made is as important as what it does
  • Owns open actions until they close and never drops a thread
  • Would have run a tighter gate review, if only someone had asked
