Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on NPI Engineer – Battery Electronics to work closely with R&D, Production, Quality, and external vendors to industrialize new battery products and continuously improve existing battery manufacturing and testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive NPI activities from R&D/prototype stage through pilot builds and mass production.
  • Act as the bridge between R&D and Plant, translating product requirements into production and testing requirements.
  • Ensure new battery components, BMS, electronics, and design changes are production-ready and implemented correctly.
  • Own and improve BMS testers, battery testers, EOL testing, and PDI processes, including test coverage, reliability, cycle time, and traceability.
  • Troubleshoot electronics, BMS, tester, and production issues and drive root-cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
  • Define requirements for and coordinate development of jigs, fixtures, testers, and special-purpose machines with external vendors.
  • Evaluate and implement new machines, automation, and process improvements to improve quality, productivity, cost, and cycle time.
  • Work with R&D on DFM/DFT, engineering changes, BOM changes, and design improvements to ensure manufacturability and testability.
  • Develop and improve SOPs, work instructions, process controls, checklists, and validation procedures for new and existing processes.
  • Analyze production and tester data to identify yield losses, recurring failures, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate with vendors on technical requirements, design reviews, trials, commissioning, and equipment validation.
  • Support production during new product launches, ramp-up, and day-to-day technical issues.
  • Use basic programming/scripting for test automation, data analysis, debugging, or process improvement.
  • Ensure proper traceability and documentation of battery testing, production processes, and engineering changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 1-4 years of experience in NPI, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, battery, BMS, or electronics manufacturing.
  • Good understanding of basic electronics and electrical systems.
  • Understanding of battery packs, BMS, and battery testing is preferred.
  • Hands on experience in hardware debugging, circuit-level troubleshooting, and signal analysis using Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, and DSOs.
  • Hands-on experience with testers, jigs, fixtures, production equipment, or automation.
  • Basic programming/scripting knowledge in Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, or similar.
  • Familiarity with CAN, UART, RS485, Ethernet, or Modbus is a plus.
  • Understanding of root-cause analysis, PFMEA, Control Plans, process validation, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and vendor-management skills.
  • Comfortable working hands-on at the plant/shop floor and independently driving problems to closure.
