Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Java Technical Architect to lead the design, modernization, and delivery of enterprise-grade Java applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Java technologies, application architecture, cloud-ready solutions, and modernization initiatives. This role requires strong technical leadership, hands-on development capabilities, and the ability to guide engineering teams through complex transformation projects.
Preference will be given to candidates with proven experience in Spring to Spring Boot migration, Java 8 to Java 21 migration, and exposure to the printer domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical architecture for enterprise Java applications.
- Lead application modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy Java applications to modern technology stacks.
- Design scalable, secure, and high-performance microservices-based solutions.
- Lead the migration of applications from Spring Framework to Spring Boot.
- Drive Java version upgrades from Java 8 to Java 21 while ensuring compatibility, performance, and code quality.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and development teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Establish architecture standards, coding guidelines, and best practices.
- Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design discussions.
- Mentor development teams and provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate.
- Troubleshoot critical production issues and provide architectural guidance for long-term solutions.
- Ensure applications meet security, scalability, maintainability, and performance standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Java application development with at least 3 years in an Architect or Technical Lead role.
- Strong expertise in Java, including Java 8 and newer versions up to Java 21.
- Extensive experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
- Strong understanding of Microservices Architecture.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
- Expertise in object-oriented design principles and design patterns.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Experience with Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of application performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following experience will be given preference:
- Proven experience in Spring Framework to Spring Boot migration projects.
- Hands-on experience leading Java 8 to Java 21 migration initiatives.
- Experience in migrating enterprise observability platforms from Splunk to Datadog, including log ingestion, dashboards, alerts, metrics, APM, and monitoring strategy.
- Experience with application modernization and legacy system transformation.
- Experience working in the printer domain, including printer management systems, print workflows, printer firmware integration, print services, or related enterprise printing solutions.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of messaging platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and automated testing frameworks.
