ABOUT THE ROLE

Elephant in the Boardroom is looking for an experienced and technically strong New Product Innovation and AI capability Lead – Mobile & Digital Applications to design and deliver AI-powered applications and intelligent digital experiences for clients.

The role focuses on practical implementation of Large Language Models (LLMs), AI workflows, automation systems, AI-assisted user experiences, and scalable AI integrations across mobile and digital platforms.

This is a hands-on technical role suited to someone experienced in delivering production-ready AI applications, integrating modern AI frameworks, and collaborating closely with engineering and client teams to bring AI-powered products to market.

The role involves working closely with Australian and international clients while leading a Chennai-based engineering team across multiple AI and mobile application projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborating with AI, mobile, backend, frontend, and DevOps engineers across multiple projects
Design and architect scalable AI-powered mobile applications and intelligent digital solutions
Drive end-to-end project delivery including architecture, development, deployment, optimisation, and post-production support
Build and oversee AI integrations using LLMs, AI APIs, automation tools, and modern AI frameworks
Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation including architecture diagrams, workflows, technical specifications, API documentation, deployment plans, and engineering processes
Collaborate with international clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions
Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
Review code, enforce engineering standards, and ensure best practices across AI, mobile, backend, frontend, and DevOps workflows
Oversee cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, monitoring, and application scalability
Handle technical escalations, architecture discussions, delivery risks, and performance optimisation
Participate in technical hiring, candidate evaluations, and engineering team development initiatives
Conduct regular mentoring sessions, technical reviews, and growth planning for engineering team members
Stay updated with emerging AI technologies, mobile engineering trends, architecture standards, and modern engineering practices

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED

AI Engineering & Large Language Models (LLMs)

Strong hands-on experience integrating and working with modern LLM platforms including OpenAI GPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar AI models
Experience building AI-powered applications, intelligent assistants, workflow automations, conversational systems, or recommendation engines
Strong understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, and AI orchestration frameworks
Experience with AI frameworks and tooling such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar ecosystems
Strong understanding of prompt engineering, structured outputs, context handling, and AI response optimisation
Experience integrating AI APIs into mobile, web, or backend systems
Understanding of AI limitations, hallucination management, token optimisation, latency management, and AI cost considerations
Experience deploying and supporting production-grade AI applications in real-world environments

Backend Engineering & API Development

Strong experience with Python (FastAPI, Django) and/or Node.js for backend application development
Experience building scalable APIs, microservices, and backend integrations
Strong understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, WebSockets, authentication, and third-party integrations
Experience with database design, optimisation, and scalable backend architecture
Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, or similar technologies

Cloud, Infrastructure & DevOps

Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Azure environments
Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and cloud-based application hosting
Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring, logging, performance optimisation, and scalable deployment practices
Experience using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, or similar CI/CD tooling

Mobile & Frontend Exposure

Exposure to Flutter and/or React Native mobile application development
Understanding of mobile application architecture, API integrations, and deployment workflows
Exposure to React.js, Next.js, JavaScript, or TypeScript is highly regarded
Understanding of frontend-backend integration patterns and modern application workflows

Solution Architecture & Technical Delivery

Strong understanding of scalable application architecture and practical solution design
Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and implementation approaches
Experience preparing technical documentation including architecture diagrams, workflows, API documentation, technical specifications, and deployment documentation
Strong understanding of security, scalability, maintainability, and engineering best practices
Experience contributing to technical estimation, delivery planning, and solution implementation discussions

Tools & Methodologies

Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Agile, and Scrum delivery environments
Experience working across multiple concurrent projects in fast-paced delivery environments

Nice to Have

Experience working with AI agents, automation platforms, or AI workflow systems
Experience integrating AI into mobile applications or customer-facing digital platforms
Exposure to Firebase, real-time systems, or event-driven architectures
Experience working with Australian or international clients
Contributions to AI, automation, or engineering-related open-source projects
Published AI-enabled or mobile applications in production environments

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

10–15 years of experience in software engineering and application development
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a Senior Engineer or Technical Lead capacity, 3–5 years of overseas working experience in relevant roles
Strong hands-on experience in AI engineering, mobile application development, solution architecture, backend systems, and DevOps environments
Experience leading AI-integrated mobile application projects for international clients
Proven experience managing engineering teams and technical project delivery
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
