Primary Job Title: Consultant Neurologist
About The Opportunity
A leading opportunity in the tertiary healthcare & multispecialty hospital sector located in Kannur, Kerala. The role is embedded in a clinical setting providing inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and neurocritical care services with access to modern neurodiagnostics and imaging. This is an on-site position for an experienced neurologist to join a growing clinical team and contribute to patient care, training, and service development.
Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient neurological care across emergency, ward, and clinic settingsevaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic neurological disorders.
- Lead acute stroke care on-site: assess candidates, initiate IV thrombolysis, coordinate with radiology and interventional teams, and support stroke pathway optimisation.
- Perform and interpret neurophysiology procedures (EEG, EMG/NCS) and invasive diagnostic procedures (lumbar puncture); ensure timely, accurate reporting.
- Review and clinically correlate neuroimaging (MRI, CT) in collaboration with radiology; request advanced imaging and guide management based on findings.
- Mentor and supervise junior doctors and residents; organise multidisciplinary rounds, case discussions, and contribute to continuing medical education.
- Maintain high standards of clinical documentation, patient safety, and adherence to hospital clinical governance and protocols.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- DM (Neurology) or DrNB (Neurology)
- Valid registration with the Indian/State Medical Council
- Proven experience in acute stroke management and neurocritical care
- Clinical competence in EEG, EMG/NCS, and lumbar puncture
- Experience interpreting brain MRI and CT for neurological diagnoses
- ACLS certification (or equivalent emergency lifesupport qualification)
Preferred
- Experience with movement disorders procedures (e.g., botulinum toxin for spasticity/dystonia)
- Prior teaching or supervisory experience with residents or fellows
- Track record of clinical research or peerreviewed publications in neurology
