Firewall Rule Certification Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and detailoriented Firewall Rule Certification Engineer to join our team The ideal candidate will be responsible for the meticulous manual certification and validation of firewall rules to ensure they align with security policies and business requirements This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and security of our network infrastructure

Responsibilities

Rule Analysis and Validation Manually review and validate firewall rules and policies against established security standards architectural guidelines and business requests

Service now Candidate should be able to search and find the CI owner from service now and contact the application owner and work closely

Change Management Collaborate with Network Security Firewall SMELeads and application teams to review proposed firewall rule changes ensuring all modifications are properly documented and authorized through the change management process

Security Policy Enforcement Ensure all firewall rules adhere to the organizations security policies including least privilege principles segmentation and compliance requirements

Documentation and Reporting Maintain comprehensive documentation of all certified firewall rules including their purpose associated business owner and expiration dates Generate reports on rule compliance and validation status

Troubleshooting and Support Assist in troubleshooting network connectivity issues related to firewall rules and provide expert guidance on rule optimization and best practices

Audit and Compliance Support internal and external audits by providing evidence of firewall rule certification and compliance Ensure all rules are auditable and traceable

Collaboration Work closely with various teams including application development infrastructure and security operations to understand business needs and translate them into secure firewall configurations You will maintain continuous followup until a solution is successfully implemented

Qualifications

Experience A minimum of 4 years of experience in network security specifically with firewall administration and rule management

Technical Skills

o Strong understanding of networking protocols TCPIP UDP ICMP and network services DNS DHCP HTTPS

o Handson experience with major firewall platforms such as Panorama Palo Alto Networks Check Point and Azure Native firewalls Service now ticketing tool

o Proficiency in interpreting network diagrams Network logs and packet captures

Soft Skills

o Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to problemsolving

o Strong analytical skills and the ability to think critically about security risks

o Excellent communication skills both written and verbal for collaborating with technical and nontechnical stakeholders

o Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment

Certifications Relevant certifications such as CCNA Security Palo Alto Networks PCNSAPCNSE are highly desirable
