Job Description

About Position:

A Level 2 Network/Security Engineer is typically responsible for maintaining and securing network infrastructure, handling escalated issues from Level 1, and implementing security measures. This role requires intermediate technical expertise and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve more complex network issues escalated from L1: routing, switching, connectivity, firewall, VPN, load balancers, etc
  • Network Voice Administration and Troubleshooting (Cisco, Genesys platform and Teams)
  • Configure and maintain enterprise network infrastructure: routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, LAN/WAN components; implement changes, patches, upgrades.
  • Monitor network and security devices; analyze logs/alerts; manage network security (firewall rules, VPN configurations, IDS/IPS where applicable).
  • Implement remediation to all identified vulnerabilities across infrastructure components
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring or complex issues; identify and propose improvements to avoid future incidents.
  • Maintain documentation of configurations, changes, incidents, network diagrams, and support activities.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams (security, server/cloud, support) and possibly vendors for hardware/software fixes or upgrades.
  • assist in planning and executing medium-level changes or network enhancements (e.g. capacity upgrades, new VPN deployments, additional security configurations).

Expertise You'll Bring:

  • Certifications like CCNA / CCNP, or security-related certifications; familiarity with enterprise firewall/VPN tools (e.g. Fortinet, Cisco, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (BGP / OSPF / MPLS / VPN / LAN-WAN) and security fundamentals (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, secure remote access).
  • Good diagnostic, analytical skills, ability to use network-monitoring and protocol-analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, SIEM/log tools).
  • Good documentation and team-communication skills; possibly shift/work flexible hours depending on business needs.
