Role Summary
The Network L2 Engineer will be responsible for supporting, managing, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructures, including multivendor firewalls, switching, and wireless solutions. This role requires strong handson experience with Fortigate, SonicWall, Palo Alto, Cisco Meraki, and Cisco ASA platforms, along with solid knowledge of Layer2/Layer3 networking and wireless technologies. The engineer will handle escalations from L1, perform deepdive troubleshooting, and ensure network uptime and security.
Key Responsibilities
Firewall & Security Operations
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot:
- Fortigate (FortiOS)
- SonicWall
- Palo Alto (PANOS)
- Cisco ASA
- Cisco Meraki MX security appliances
- Create and modify security policies, NAT rules, routing, and access control.
- Monitor and analyze firewall logs and system alerts to identify security threats.
- Configure and troubleshoot VPNs:
- IPSec SitetoSite
- SSL VPN / Remote Access
- Perform firmware upgrades, backup/restore configurations, and apply patches.
Routing & Switching
- Configure and support Layer2/Layer3 switches (Cisco/Meraki/HP/Other vendors).
- Manage VLANs, STP, Trunking, portchanneling/LACP, interVLAN routing.
- Perform rootcause analysis for network outages, loops, and bottlenecks.
- Troubleshoot routing issues (static routes, OSPF, BGPbasic preferred).
Wireless Infrastructure
- Manage enterprise wireless networks including:
- Access Points (APs)
- Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs)
- Meraki Wireless Dashboard
- Troubleshoot wireless connectivity, authentication, roaming, and performance issues.
- Ensure optimal RF coverage and apply wireless best practices.
NOC & Operational Support
- Act as the L2 escalation point for network incidents.
- Monitor network health and performance using NMS tools (PRTG, SolarWinds, Zabbix, etc.).
- Perform scheduled maintenance and preventive checks.
- Work with ISPs to resolve WAN, MPLS, ILL, and broadband issues.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain updated network diagrams, configurations, and SOPs.
- Prepare RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for major incidents.
- Follow ITIL processesIncident, Change, and Problem Management.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science/Electronics or equivalent.
- 25 years of experience in network operations (L2 level).
- Preferred certifications:
- Fortinet NSE 4/5
- Palo Alto PCNSA / PCNSE
- Cisco CCNA / CCNP
- SonicWall CSSA
- Meraki CMNA
