Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in network operations, systematic troubleshooting in IP and Optical environments.
- Experience in telecommunications at carrier scale working with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer 2/3 routers, data services, and DWDM.
- Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.
- Experience with TCP/IP and network routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS) and infrastructure with optical network installation, maintenance, and operation.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmission systems, Layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
- Experience with optical network installation, maintenance, and operations (NOC/TAC) for a network service provider or enterprise networks.
- Understanding of ISP network operations or experience in enterprise/IT network infrastructure support.
- Ability to use, understand, and navigate EMS and NMS systems to manage optical networks.
- Ability to employ troubleshooting methodology and creative problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to network outages by providing a diagnosis of Layer 1 to Layer 3 network errors and initiate and complete network repairs.
- Use/Develop workflows and systems to diagnose optical Layer 1 and Layer 3 network issues to completion.
- Participate in 24/7 global team shift rotations.
- Provide remote support for field operations related to network repairs.
- Interface with customers communicating repair status and updates as needed.
