About The Role
We are urgently looking for a Full Remote Network Engineer to join our dynamic team at All European Careers. This is a long-term position designed for professionals who are passionate about network architecture, deployment, and management in enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures, with a particular focus on Cisco technologies and Meraki solutions. This role offers the flexibility of working remotely within Europe, with the expectation to attend on-site meetings as required. Candidates must be fluent in English and willing to travel locally for meetings and collaboration sessions. The successful applicant will play a critical role in reviewing existing network architectures, designing future state solutions, and leading migration projects to ensure minimal service disruption while enhancing network performance and security.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Network Engineer or Network Architect in enterprise environments.
- Extensive expertise with Cisco networking technologies, including Layer 2/3 switching, routing, VLANs, DHCP, firewalling, and site-to-site VPNs.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki products (MX, MS, MR) in production environments.
- Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Experience with network lifecycle management, including EOL/EOS planning and execution.
- Experience working in hybrid or globally distributed organizational structures.
- Proven ability to transition from managed network services to in-house or cloud-managed solutions.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Willingness to travel locally for meetings and on-site project activities.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze existing network architecture across affected offices, including core, access, firewall, and wireless components.
- Identify and validate risks related to EOL/EOS equipment and operational dependencies, providing actionable insights.
- Design a target-state network architecture that aligns with industry standards and Cisco Meraki best practices, ensuring scalability and security.
- Develop migration and transition strategies that minimize service disruption, including phased implementation plans.
- Provide technical leadership for the replacement and upgrade of core switches and firewalls, ensuring system stability and security.
- Support configuration, deployment, and cutover activities for Meraki-based infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration and operation.
- Assist with phased renewal planning for Geneva access switching and wireless infrastructure, including capacity planning and vendor coordination.
- Ensure proper VLAN segmentation, routing configurations, firewall rules, and Wi-Fi designs are implemented effectively.
- Produce comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Develop operational runbooks and handover materials to facilitate ongoing maintenance and support.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for internal teams, enhancing their understanding of the new network architecture and procedures.
- Provide risk and dependency analyses to support decision-making processes and steering committee discussions.
