Network Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer (Level 2) with proven experience in routing and switching, and a strong understanding of network infrastructure, to provide day-to-day operational support and resolve escalated network incidents. The role requires hands-on expertise in network technologies, protocols, and troubleshooting tools, combined with excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Level-2 support and troubleshooting for escalated network issues (incidents, changes, problems).
• Configure and install network devices and services such as routers, switches, firewalls, DNS, etc.
• Support dynamic routing protocols, especially BGP, and switching technologies like VLANs and Spanning Tree.
• Execute network configuration upgrades, IT changes, and documentation as per change management processes.
• Conduct trend analysis of incidents and propose proactive problem management solutions.
• Manage and document network architecture, procedures, and troubleshooting guides for knowledge sharing.
• Handle network monitoring tools and provide fixes to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate on cross-functional network projects and infrastructure improvements.

Core Competencies & Technical Skills:

Mandatory:

• Strong understanding of OSI Layers, IP addressing, and subnetting.
• Experience in configuring routing protocols (especially BGP).
• Configuration and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN, VLANs, STP, QoS, etc.
• Familiarity with wireless networks and IPVPN (GRE, IPSec).
• Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes (ITIL preferred).
• Excellent analytical and documentation skills.

Preferred/Good to Have:

• Exposure to firewalls (Juniper SRX, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto).
• Familiarity with Cisco Nexus / NXOS and DNS services.
• Experience with Wireshark or similar packet analysis tools.
• Scripting skills (Python or similar) for network automation.
• Familiarity with monitoring systems and proactive issue resolution.
