Network Engineer

Ciena is seeking a Network Engineer to contribute to IP and Optical network transformation initiatives. This role supports deployment, integration, migration, upgrade, and troubleshooting activities across customer networks. The position partners with cross-functional teams to deliver network modernization projects across IP/MPLS and Optical technologies.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Deliver IP/MPLS and Optical network deployment, integration, commissioning, and upgrade activities.
• Create and maintain LLD, NDD, DCN designs, network diagrams, MoPs/EMOPs, and ATP documentation.
• Translate HLD requirements into detailed implementation designs in collaboration with senior engineers.
• Execute in-service network migration and modernization activities with minimal customer impact.
• Perform pre-checks, post-checks, service validation, and acceptance testing.
• Troubleshoot IP, Optical, hardware, software, and NMS-related issues and contribute to RCA activities.
• Identify automation, process improvement, and network optimization opportunities.
  
  

The Must Haves

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in IP, Optical, Telecom, or Network Engineering.
• Application of Ethernet, IP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, and BFD technologies.
• Knowledge of DWDM, OTN, SDH, Long-Haul, and Metro Optical networks.
• Utilization of DCN and Network Management Systems.
• Experience with network deployment, commissioning, upgrades, or migrations.
• Hands-on experience with telecom/networking equipment deployment and troubleshooting.
  
  

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Segment Routing and EVPN.
• Experience troubleshooting IP connectivity and routing issues.
• Understanding of optical link architecture, alarms, and performance monitoring.
• Experience with Optical NMS.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Background working independently and collaboratively with customers and cross-functional teams.
• Basic knowledge of Python and automation.
